This morning I went on a run with my friend as I have taken the day off work (need to have a day off for my sanity so used annual leave)

It was lovely, we're doing a 5km a few times a week and it was a fast one today and I felt strong! I've been buzzing all day.

No I am enjoying a child free house (kids are at school as it's their dads week) and I am watching the great British pottery throw down which is just full of joy!

Come and tell me what has bought you joy today

I gave a very old lady a lift to her Covid vaccination, through our local community helpful neighbour scheme. It was so lovely to chat to her in the car - she turned out to be a botanist who had worked at Kew. I’m a gardener, so we had lots to talk about.

It was so refreshing to talk to someone who isn’t my immediate family!

Brought my work colleague a birthday cake and going to decorate the office tomorrow to surprise her.
Also very joyful that Trump has gone, feels like a new dawn.

@McCorona seconded. This is just such a seminal moment. Been talking to friends in Houston and they are so relieved and happy.
Have to say, Gaga & JLo just nailed it.

I went for a walk in the wind and rain with two reluctant children. Life motto: how ever much you don't want to go, you will be twice as glad you went.

My old cat, who had a bath yesterday. He is so loving even when he is grumpy about being bathed, and patiently forgiving.
A flock of long-tailed tits in the garden this morning.

A tiny flood in my kitchen. We have been having water ingress since 9th December every time it rains heavily and this was about a cupfull. It was barely enough to fill a pint pot. It comes up through the floor and the fact that it came in after 36 hours of pretty much solid rain, in that quantity, makes me quietly happy. I could wish it hadn't come in at all but you take joy where you find it!

My son is 4.5 and has a speech and language delay, he's come on so much since starting at a specialist school in September. He's been doing the theme of space at school and seems to captured his imagination. He asked for some books about space and they arrived today. He said 'I love you mummy' as he opened them, the first time he's said that to me.

A 20 minute walk with ds in the pouring rain just because we chatted and it got us both out. Seeing my step mum for a snatched five minutes. Some vegan sausages that I decided to try on the off chance they were decent and I was pleasantly surprised.

Even though the weather is rubbish, I had a lovely walk this morning with my neighbour and my dog.
Husband came home with some chips and curry sauce so that was an unexpected joyful treat at lunchtime. Even more joyful he is now cooking a mushroom risotto.
The rain is coming down hard now so will stay in my study snuggled with heated throw watching trash tv.

😍 that is lovely! My son was no verbal and I remember his first sentence.

Actually he also goes to a special school and his teacher phoned this afternoon to talk knowingly about him. They said I light has switched on in him.

Too good to be true

My friend knocked on our window this evening and left a bag of goodies on the doorstep. DS1's face when he saw a packet of biscuits made me cry.

My partner said he felt like cooking.... which I am so grateful for today. I love cooking and do 80 % of it as I hate doing the dishes so it's a compromise I'm always happy with.

Yet him cooking and to my request is great, I'm tired and it was just going to be something from the freezer otherwise!

Hearing that both my parents will get their jab on Saturday. They have been shielding (Dad is CEV) and have barely left the house since March. This will give them (and me) so much peace of mind.

I'm impressed with how the vaccine roll out has gone in a number of locations - my mum is (only) 72, so they are clearly well on track in Herefordshire. And also where I live (Warwickshire) as I know of a number of local people in their early 70s now getting their jabs.

There is hope.

talking to elderly people today at the vaccination hub. I was volunteering in the waiting room where they had to sit for 15 mins after having their jab. Some of them were so funny. I enjoyed being there much more than I thought I would. I was also vaccinated and that felt good.
