Start using Mumsnet PremiumEx forces and dog tag question
(8 Posts)Wondering if anyone here can answer a question for me. Watching a program tonight I noticed one of the characters that who is meant to be ex army still wore their tags all the time. It made me think that in movies and tv you often see ex forces characters wearing tags still.
So my question is, in real life do ex forces personnel continue to wear their tags? If so is it habit? Comfort like the feel of a watch on your wrist? Or something else?
None of the ex forces guys I’ve met still wear them. They go with the medals/hat ime.
Sorry I meant go in the “memories box” or wherever they keep the medals and hat
Thanks for the answer.
My Dad and all our ex army friends never wore theirs, Dad's is tucked away with his medals etc
Our son is military and only wears ID discs when deployed on active service. He’d not wear them in the U.K.
Neither of my ex-hubbies wore theirs!
I’m not sure I’ve even seen dhs since he left the military. I would have thought they would have come out when the dc did projects on the war etc, so maybe he has got rid of them/had to hand them back in? He only ever wore them when he was going away, never while he was on his base or at home.
