How did you tell your DH you were pregnant?

After 9 years of infertility I have had a positive test! I rang DH and kind of shrieked at him Blush but I like hearing stories of how other people tell their other halves.

First one I was so stunned I was actually pregnant - bit of a shock really. Told him to sit down and handed him the pregnancy test. He was surprised, but happy.
2nd one I don’t remember telling DH (although I must have 😳). I do remember telling my dad though, he was very down and tired from work and I just whispered to him whilst he was washing his hands for tea, “you’re going to be a grandad again” - he sort of lit up from within. I’ll cherish the memory forever.

Went downstairs in a t shirt and pants catching him just as he was leaving for work (he didn't know I was taking the test), waving the stick at him saying 'I think I'm pregnant again'. It wasn't a really strong line so we waited for a digi confirmation, which I text a photo of while he was at work the following day 😂 not exactly romantic, but this is the 4th pregnancy after 3 MCs so hard to get excited each time. We had previously done the tests together and found out at the same time, but it just gets exhausting after a while!

Massive congratulations!

We were together in the bathroom when I did the test. I wanted to open the lid on it and find out at the same time (I was pretty sure I was pregnant) but it went positive so quickly that I couldn’t get the cap back on before it went positive. My face said it all as I was beaming from ear to ear!

I was adamant it d be negative as I took one when I had symptoms 4 days before my period was due as there wasn't a line so I just did it as my period hadn't started and left it in the bathroom and DH went in there before the time was up and the line was as clear as day, so I didn't actually tell him.

1st one he was with me when I did the test and we left it sitting for 5 mins cause neither of us wanted to look at it!

2nd he was working away and I told him over the phone.

First one DH was pacing outside the bathroom door whilst I POAS. Excited cuddles after. Second, I went downstairs, threw the positive stick at him and told him to take the crate of wine I’d just bought for our holiday out of the car. Magical memories lol

Text him and said 'er what would you do if I was pregnant' - we'd only been together 6 months and lived 30 miles apart Grin

I was pregnant though. He must be able smell it on me - or it's because he gets the shit end of the stick when my moods change haha

I took a test thinking it would be negative after telling DH I wouldn't test until I was actually late. I paced around and blurted it out. DH was really hungover.

Over the phone in floods of tears. I was a jobless, unmarried student still living with my mum and legitimately thought my life was over.

Dp was as ever the calm voice of reason. A different reaction from him and my utterly wonderful ds would probably never have been. That thought makes me feel wholly awful tbh.

1st was 2 weeks before our wedding, took it in house with him with 2nd we had been trying for 3 years and I realised that I was late so took a test and woke him up from his sleep (he was nightshift) and told him in total shock now 24 weeks 💕

Congratulations OP, what fantastic news in such shitty times - I'm so pleased for you!

First time - we had only been trying a month but the moment i was late I was quite sure I was. It was Christmas Day and we were on holiday in a tropical place. He said he had got me a small present and I hadnt got him one so thank fuck it was positive! I wrapped the test in a velvet bag (it was a dildo case)

2nd - we had just had a row. Again I knew I was. I went into our bedroom and said 'you best book some time off'

Ahh congratulations, that’s amazing ! 😚

DC1 - he was with me
DC2 - I phoned him on his lunch break at work
This pregnancy - I ran downstairs and waved the stick in his face whilst he was putting the bins out 🤣

I told him in cryptic monosyllables because for some reason I can't remember I was at his parents house using the phone in their hallway (i don't think I had a mobile then), he was on a work trip to Japan. We were TTC, I was on my second round of clomid because of PCOS.

Congratulations!! With our first it wasn't planned or expected. I'd been feeling sick (unusual for me) and my periods were all over the place anyway. (Had no idea I'd missed one as had had some bleeding too.)

He said "look I'm going to get a pregnancy test, so we can rule it out." However, by that time I had googled "10 signs of pregnancy" and realised I had at least 4. I was secretly terrified - we lived in a shared house at the time, career was just taking off, not the plan at all.

I had a bath, trying to delay taking the test- he came upstairs and persuaded me to do it. So I did, but then refused to look at the result, so he knelt down on the floor to look at it, and looked up at me, his eyes looked really green and full of shock, when he said "It says you're pregnant" We were both in shock!

I should add this was ten years ago, we now have three children and often talk about how it was the best thing that ever happened to us! (Of course!) I didn't get a chance to think about how to tell him, as he told me. 😄

Congratulations!!

I took a test with him there that was negative, although we were trying and my period was late. A few days later still no period and we were due to go out drinking that night, so I did one first thing and got a positive. He was still asleep so got woken up with a stick in his face and my shell-shocked face! We took an early morning walk to process it, which was lovely thinking back.

1st time told him over the phone.

2nd time put a muffin in the oven. When he came home from work I told him there was something in the oven. He looked and said “oooh did you make that?” (A big muffin in a fancy wrapper). I laughed and said no so he looked at me all confused and I said “there’s a bun in the oven”. Cheesy but I wanted to do something different.

Congrats, 9 years - I can’t imagine what that must’ve felt like.

We’ve had similar issue- although not as long as 9 years but after losing our son and trying unsuccessfully for almost a year I just came down and burst into tears. At first he thought I was upset but when I started laughing- perhaps a little like a deranged person I saw the question and then understanding dawning on his face

He was upstairs pottering about and I handed him the pregnancy test as I couldn't seem to get the words out. He was totally calm but I was all over the place and said I should do another test to make sure. Turns out 3 more tests and it finally sunk in. Lol.

I gave mine a copy of the Expectant dad's handbook and a tiny pair of trainers, then watched the cogs then whilst the penny dropped.

I had to order them and wait a couple of days for delivery and it was the hardest thing to keep it to myself whilst I waited!
