(14 Posts)We have tickets to a show and Harry Potter Studios mid June and the kids are getting anxious we're not going to be able to go, as for me I need to go somewhere, do something, anything, just have something to look forward to. I've not booked accommodation yet as the hotels are still saying essential visitors only
Should we just resign ourselves to it just not happening?
No way of knowing - maybe yes maybe no!
I agree it’s sensible not to book a hotel yet but as a Londoner I do think it’s very possible.
That’s the problem, you just don’t know! That’s what makes it all so rubbish really!!
I hope you do get to go though!
I would not commit to any hotel even if available yet, unless you can get free cancellation.
If the vaccination programme goes to plan you may be able to go. I agree uncertainty is not good. I've got a week off for an event in June and although have not committed any money, would be very disappointed if I could not go.
I'm a Londoner (outer suburbs though) and I bloody well hope so! It is so weird seeing all of the busy places that are normally swarming with tourists being so quiet. I hope that you and your children do get to go and have an amazing time- I cannot wait to see a show in the theatre again!
Also London and clinging onto to the idea of maybe being able to see Frozen in the West End in May. It’s already been rescheduled from November. I don’t fancy the odds though if I’m brutally honest. 9 yr old DD has resigned herself to the fact it will more likely be in the Autumn. She’s far more resilient and sensible than me
Lords (cricket) are opening their ticket office tomorrow for tickets to watch England in the summer. So hope to a)get tickets and b)actually have something live to watch. So fed up with not being able to do anything.
We’ve got theatre tickets for August which were originally for last August but I’m not banking on being able to use them. We’re both in the ‘underlying medical condition’ phase of receiving the vaccine and I’m not convinced that we will have had both doses by then.
I’ve got theatre tickets for April and July. I’m resigned to April not happening. I hope July can as that would be frozen the musical (like another poster). I haven’t told my daughter we have tickets but it would probably make my year if we can go as she’ll be so excited.
I’m feeling fairly optimistic about the weekend I have booked at the end of March based on the plummeting case rate.
Thank you for the feedback. I hope all of you with tickets for shows get to go aswell, Frozen will be so good!
After posting my OP a close family member who lives in London phoned me as we're quietly celebrating a special occasion today but they told me they and their whole family are self-isolating with Covid!
It's filled me with nerves. My youngest has SEN and anxiety, his mental health has taken such a battering from all of this due to feelings of intense loneliness, he's going to be so worried
OK we need things to be fine and for London to go ahead for all our sakes!
I think it’s likely, although I’m always an optimist 😊
I would book your hotel now on a cancellable rate - lots of good deals to be had, and if it’s cancellable there’s no risk.
Pre-Tier 3/4 many shows in London reopened - such as Six and some of the Pantos (Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge went to one with their kids if you want to google pictures etc). A lateral flow testing scheme has started in West End to enable things to begin rehearsals etc.

Oh @katiegoestoaldi I am sorry that your family members have covid, I hope that they only have mild symptoms and make full and swift recoveries. Keeping my fingers crossed for everything to get better for everyone!
