Holiday planning for better days

So my mum has offered to have the DC for 2 nights once this whole thing is over and DH and I are hoping to go away. The kids are almost 2 and just 5 so I don't want to be too far away and they won't cope for longer than 2 night, though by then we might be able to stretch to 3.

So where should we go?

I'm so excited! Recommendations for specific hotels as well as cities, restaurants and places to go. Open to anything really! I do not want self catering, I want to be totally looked after.

Where are you planning to go when all this is over?

The New York Palace in Budapest is amazing! And relatively cheap compared to what you’d pay for that level of hotel elsewhere.
I also love Barcelona, Copenhagen (pricey) and Prague (also cheap).
For hotels in Barcelona I love the B Hotel and the Gates Diagonal for their rooftop pools.

Do you want to fly somewhere and do you definitely want a city?

Happy to fly but also happy with a UK holiday. Not fussed about city or not, just want a break!

We had a really brilliant U.K. break in Brighton last summer. I was so surprised at how much there was to do. However, it cost us an absolute fortune in comparison to what we’d have spent abroad and it’s put me right off U.K. holidays.

Also in my earlier post I forgot my absolute favourite city break - Seville. We stayed at the Melia which is a 10 minute walk into the city but so worth it to have a huge pool whereas in the city most only have a small rooftop one. Eating out was so reasonable and wine even cheaper!

Malaga is great without children. There are lots of nice Sherry bars and a lovely beach that stretches for miles.

We’re going to Bristol. Staying at Brooks guest house. Drinking in bars near the docks. Eating at San Carlo and Root.

Also the Lake District for our 10th wedding anniversary. We’ll be staying at the Old Dungeon Ghyll hotel, having long walks and eating there.

Portmeirion in North Wales. Choice of flats or hotel rooms. Stunning and expensive, but worth it.
