If name changing were as easy in real life as on MN? I can't decide myself but my dd chose Avery. What would you choose and why?

I have one of the most common names for someone my age and i hate it. I wish i had something more unusual, maybe something french sounding like emmeline or Cecelia

Dd has a very popular name and that has put her off it, even though she kindly said she does still like her name but she wished she didn't have 3 others with the same name in her class.

Alice it’s my middle name. I hate my first name and have always wished it had been the other way around.

name changed (obviously) but as someone named Kate - spelled slightly differently but same name - I'm very flattered Grin

I think I'd probably go for Cleo, or Diane. I like strong names.

I renamed myself. I chose a first name that written is very similar to the name I was raised with, but is pronounced in a entirely different way. Having a different sound was very important to me - it was the sound of the name I grew up that repelled me - and having an entirely different language origin and meaning that I liked was part of it - I've quite liked how the shift of a letter created something so new, like a slight shift in myself changed who I am too. I also like how it lends itself to multiple pleasant nicknames for such a short name, whereas the name I was raised with, the nicknames are pretty naff.

For middle names, I considered my different heritages and went for names with meanings that resonated with me. I kept my first 2 initials the same, and kept the second middle name a family name (and still a gemstone) just a different family member that I valued continuing on more.

If I had to rerename myself, I'd probably do similar - there are other names that could be made with a letter or two difference and I've actually since found some more resources on my family tree so I'd have even more family names to pick from.

Felicity. NN Lissy.

My mother actually wanted to name me this, but my dad said no as everyone would call me Felix the cat (which I wouldn't have minded). My dad's choice was Alison. I am neither of those names.
