So, DP, who I don't live with, and I have got into a rut during lockdown. We visit each other, have a meal, watch a film , natter.
He has suggested we do something different......ideas for lockdown entertainment....both in our 50's.
TIA

My husband and I have started playing Risk, board game! It’s brilliant really enjoy it!

We like Ticket to Ride, it’s not complicated, doesn’t take too long to play and is fun. Carcassonne is also good for 2 players

Oh god, its always risk and monopoly. Please dont.

What do you like? Are you into strategy like chess. If so, Santorini is a great, very simple to learn game and is always fun.

Yamatai is a great time; we love it. Small World is like risk, but actually fun and different every time. El Dorado and Clank are great if you like deck building strategy games. Terraforming Mars is brilliant.

Robinson Crueso is an absolute must.

I second Risk, which we bought for our son but have really enjoyed. If you fancy something topical we also love Pandemic (a cooperative game in which you're supposed to save the planet from four deadly viruses) and Baker Street (collecting clues to be the first to solve, or come closest to solving, a collection of Sherlock style crimes).

In addition to some of those mentioned above we've enjoyed Castles of Burgundy, Wingspan (my current favourite) splendour and patchwork.

We've also played a lot of Twilight Struggle which is probably one of the best two player games around and got Imperial Struggle for Christmas so are just getting into that. Neither are recommended if you like your rule books to be less than 20 pages though!

Risk for a long game. Sequence for a short game.

Carcassone is good and if you enjoy it you can get expansion packs for it.
Qwirkle is a family favourite

Ahhh sooo many you should see how much our collection has expanded over lockdown:

Easy
Jaipur
7 wonders duel
Odins ravens
Century
Istanbul dice game
Plague Inc

Harder
Pandemic (yes themed nowadays but probably one of the best games out there)
Rivals for catan
Istanbul
Horrified

Also reccomend the exit escape games or adventure games by komos. One use only but they are super fun.

Bananagrams and Scrabble are my favourites (but not DH's unfortunately as I'm too good at them!) but ones we both enjoy are Rummikub, Qwirkle Cubes (even better than Qwirkle) and Trivial Pursuit (even though we've played it so many times we should know all the answers).

Haha I bought ticket to ride and we couldn't work out how to play it 😂

I'd try to write them out simply but that would be very patronising! The expansion pack for the US is great, bigger cards and more variety of destinations.

I had a similar issue with 7 Wonders. It took three of us about five hours to get to grips with, plus two video calls with my friend who gave it to us. It's actually very straightforward once you understand the rules but incredibly complicated to learn. Good game though!

If you're horror fans I recommend Elder Sign.

Oh dear. i think it's one of the easiest ones to play although IMO it's incredibly boring with just two players!
