My ewe is standing up now

We had a ewe down with listeriosis. We've been dosing her with antibiotics and energy drinks, lifting her up and turning her for three days now. Tonight she can stand on her own. It's a miracle. I might just be posting to myself but what a relief.

Thanks. She's expecting triplets. Because of the good grass this year a lot of our ewes are due triplets and four are expecting quads Shock
Unheard of

So pleased that your ewe is on the mend! So many triplets, and quads too!Shock When are they due? Will multiples mean extra work for you when they're born? If you have the time derxa, could you possibly tell us some more about raising sheep? (Wannabe farmer hereGrin) I would love to know more!Smile

We've never had quads before. Unfortunately they will be small.
Although one farmer we know had a ewe which had sextuplets and they were bottle fed. They did very well

Lambs due early March. Multiples usually need to be twinned on to ewes with single lambs. Birth is always risky since the lambs get tangled up sometime in the womb.
Do you have sheep already? Ryelands are a small native breed which suit a beginner I think.

Triplets and quads! Amazing Grin so happy your little ewe is doing well.

If we hang about on this thread may we be privileged enough to see some lamb photos when the time arrives? 🤞🏻

derxa oh not long to go then! My garden is approximately 15ft x 20ft....sadly not big enough even to keep a goat, let alone sheep!Grin I rather fancy Jacobs sheep, and Welsh black mountain. Are yours Ryelands, derxa?

I absolutely adore sheep. I used to work at the International Wool Secretariat in Ilkley. That’s how much I love sheep Grin
