I loved it. I remember when our local one closed down about 7 years ago and the sale was amazing. I got tonnes of fabric at knock down prices...yards and yards of it. Beautiful quality and prints.

I hope they carry on with there usual home ware collection, where you can buy a variety of things that match. It would be good if they were cheaper than the original Laura Ashley
Can’t see Next stocking much, as they have there own collection

Loved the LA shop in our town , but it closed ages ago. Still have some lovely mugs and homeware from there.

Our bedroom and dining room were furnished entirely from LA in the 80s - all those little matching chintzy prints and wallpapers and curtains and tiebacks and bedspreads etc etc! Gosh, looking back I don't know how we slept at night!

Yes, the last dress I bought from them about 2 years ago has POCKETS! And Laura Ashley No 1 (original) was always my favourite perfume.

I really liked Laura Ashley but would only shop there during their 30-40% off everything events.

It really hit me that only during these sales was it comparatively priced to priced against its competitors. I had no issue paying higher prices for better quality, but I have a huge issue paying higher prices for the same level of quality.

I had a white broderie anglaise style top from there. The softest cotton.

BikeRunSki Wed 13-Jan-21 17:46:30

Our Laura Ashley sofas are 15 years old, abs only just beginning to age (aided by cat and children). Most if our curtains are LA too.

I only really like the houseware stuff
Clothes are a bit old fashioned for me
Like the pyjamas, dressing gowns
Be interesting to see what quality, price & designs are going to be

I loved Laura Ashley and will be looking at Next.

Love it. All our curtains, blinds and bedlinen is LA. Gorgeous colours and quality fabrics that don't date. Not a fan of the nick nacky themed kitchen stuff though. Hope the new owners do the name justice.

Yes really liked it.

Especially bedding and have had a lot of things from them over the years'. Have China, lamps, and clothing as well

woodhill Wed 13-Jan-21 20:57:11

And curtains

You do realise this is Mumsnet?

I loved LA smile

AcornAutumn Wed 13-Jan-21 20:58:45

I could only ever afford bits of stationery but loved that! Be glad if it returns.

SugarCoatIt Wed 13-Jan-21 21:01:25

Woohoo! Sounds fab, I loved all of their homeware stuff

mamakoukla Wed 13-Jan-21 21:04:58

Some of the clothing and it’s still in reasonable shape 10+ years on..., apart from some of the dresses which are literally threadbare because I lived in them

PaigeMatthews Wed 13-Jan-21 21:06:05

Twenty years ago i had a light grey suit i used to get complimentary comments on every time i wore it. Not at all mumsy. And i have a satin type a line skirt with netting that looks great and i bought it in 2001. My uni graduation ball dress was from there too. My first house was all laura ashley wallpaper, curtains and cushions.

Ill see what next has to offer.

BikeRunSki Wed 13-Jan-21 21:14:29

I’ve just remembered that my favourite mug is from there.

wibblewombat Wed 13-Jan-21 21:16:56

I worked nights in the big warehouse when I was a student. Actually one of my better jobs, would occasionally get to pick orders, epically floral!

SendHelp30 Wed 13-Jan-21 21:28:15

I love LA homeward. My dressing room, bedroom, front room and DD room are wallpapered in LA and DH and I have the bedding and curtains.
Amazing quality and so elegant.
I am so pleased

woodhill Wed 13-Jan-21 21:39:57

The LA knitwear of the 80s was marvellous quality

EwwSprouts Wed 13-Jan-21 21:44:16

Showing my age but I've still got a hacking jacket bought there and it's still fit to be worn in public.
