Anyone else's DC having the same lunch EVERY day?

Every single day, they want the same things - beans and toast for DS, eggs on toast for DD. I don't really mind, as neither are particularly unhealthy choices (we use the low salt, no added sugar beans) and they always have fruit afterwards, but Jesus, don't they get bored?

Actually, now I think about that, they always have the same breakfast too. Dinner is the only varied meal, and that's because I choose it.

Yes, I know this is a boring thread. It's a boring time!

I remember making lemon curd sandwiches every day of the summer holidays. Really fancy one now....

Oooh that's sounds nice! I used to love lemon curd, haven't had it in years.

My grandson gets himself the same lunch every day between online lessons: a wrap with 2 small cubes of cheese and 2 cherry toms in the middle zapped in microwave until it resembles sick, followed by a big bowl of mango. Every day.

My DCs would have peanut butter & strawberry jam every day if I let them, for both breakfast and lunch.

Oddly, they hated PB&J until lockdown started last March.

My dd has pretty much the same breakfast lunch and dinner every day. She won't try anything else. Reasonably healthy foods so I don't stress too much.
Animals tend to eat the same foods every day and they have fewer health problems than humans imo.

That is a very good point which I hadn't considered!

Oh yes! DS1 has p'nut and jam sandwich, DS2 has a sausage roll or ham sandwich and DS3 has a ham or cheese sandwich. Sooooo predictable. But easy,I just go with it and can whip up lunch in my sleep!

Smoked salmon, avocado and spaghetti hoops 5 days in a row here.

Cheese toasties for 7 months today they had pizza and chips THANK FUCK

poorbuthappy Tue 12-Jan-21 15:30:05

I bought a toastie maker / grill thing from Aldi on the weekend so expect months of melted wraps / toasties / paninis here.

I would also go and shares in whichever company supplies Aldi mature cheddar cheese. We are going through tonnes of the stuff each week.

My school friend had Marmite sandwiches every day for years. One day I asked why.
She then had peanut butter sandwiches every day until we left school.
She never seemed bothered.
Perhaps they were made in bulk.

DD is nearly 14 and eats variations on the same lunch every day and has done for years.
Carb/cheese/carrot or cucumber sticks.
The carb can be varied (bread, bagel, crackers, pitta, wrap, cetc) cheese can also be varied (parmesan, soft, babybel) prefers carrot but will occasionally tolerate cucumber or celery.
Makes meal planning pretty straightforward.

My older ds has the same 3 main meals pretty much all the time just rotated as he is fussy , how he doesn't get bored I don't know

Smoked salmon, avocado and spaghetti hoops 5 days in a row here.

This is my favourite MN stealth boast today.

Ellieboolou33 Tue 12-Jan-21 15:46:02

I'd love that if my kids wanted the same every day, would make life so much easier!

Healthy choices too, win win

GameSetMatch Tue 12-Jan-21 15:55:41

It’s like a restaurant in this house at the moment with everyone giving me orders, the three year old is the worst, I’m finding it hard to shop because they know what they want that day and nothing else will do. The same lunch everyday would be a luxury for this chef!

Lucieintheskye Tue 12-Jan-21 16:06:59

No dc but DH and I often get in a phase of eating the same lunch every day. It's been chicken salad baguettes for the last 3 weeks (bar 2 days where we ran out of flour). Our niece has only ever eaten strawberry jam sandwiches for breakfast and lunch, she's 8. My sister would only eat beans with hovis crackers for about a year when she was 6/7. Totally normal but still weird!

Yep, DS1 is autistic and loves his routine, he has Parma ham in a mini white wrap cut in half on a diagonal, a chunk of cucumber, bag of hula hoops or pom bears, an apple or tangerine, and an innocent smoothie.
DS2 is neurotypical but even fussier with food, and her lunch is usually salami, 4 Greek vine leaves, a mug of instant miso soup and an apple. Talk about random. She costs me a bloody fortune!

H1978 Tue 12-Jan-21 16:17:46

Dd3 10 will only eat tuna mayonnaise sandwiches. That what she takes in her school lunch all week.

BrieAndChilli Tue 12-Jan-21 16:21:24

I wish mine at the same thing every day would save me a fortune. As it is they request things or go through a tonne of something so I buy more then no-one eats it! Everyone eats different, DD is veggie etc

ZippedyDooDa Tue 12-Jan-21 16:27:29

I had cheese sandwiches for lunch every weekday pretty much from age 6 to 16. Not a problem.

JingsMahBucket Tue 12-Jan-21 16:41:55

@surelynotnever how is that a stealth boast?

TwoHundredThousandTimes Tue 12-Jan-21 16:46:04

We had chicken poppers, cucumber and tomatoes today with a bake your own baguette.

Best lunch EVER said DS1 (ASD).

OrigamiOwl Tue 12-Jan-21 17:09:13

My DH does this... Same sandwich and an apple at lunch.
