Do I need to? House in both names, providing rental income. Do we have to sell it before divorce goes through, or can we continue to divorce and carry on splitting the income?

I am very, very new to this. Help much appreciated.

What does your other half say? Surely he / she is the one to ask.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear at all. I meant is it a legal requirement, in order to get a degree absolute, to sell a joint-owned property?

I had all financial arrangements finished before the absolute.

My friend didn't. She wanted a divorce quickly in order to marry again. Upshot is, her ex held her hostage over the joint house. He wouldn't move out. She and her new husband couldn't get a mortgage for a new home, because she was still on the old mortgage. 15 years it took for the ex to agree to sell, during which time, the house had gone down in value, and my friend spent tens of thousands renting.

My personal opinion, is that you divorce them for a reason, and it's best to move on.

A clean break will probably be best in the long run.
Sell or one buy the other out.
I'm very very glad I have no financial connection to my ex.
