What did you use to do for fun before Covid?

Right now I can't remember what I used to spend my weekends doing. Yes we used to go to our second home and saw friends and family. But I can't remember doing anything else. So I'm wondering whether the restrictions we've had on and off over the past year haven't actually made that big a difference and it's all in my head.

Anyone else? Besides seeing friends, what did you do for fun before Covid that you're not allowed to do now?

I used to go to pubs/taprooms/beer festivals a lot
Ate out at least once a week
Parkrun every week with often a nice coffee in a nice cafe after
Used to do a lot of running races followed by the pub
Go and watch horse shows
Went to a lot of gigs
Cinema/theatre as and when something I wanted to see was on
Went to a comedy club once a month or so.

It’s hard to remember life before covid until to get photo reminders as to what you were doing this time last year. ☹️

We would go out most weekends for days out, either shopping centres or national trust, with the kids followed by a meal out.

4 holidays a year, eat out twice a week, cinema once a week, theatre a few times a year, spa a few times a week. Meet friends and hug them.

Oh yes, holidays. Because those were not a weekly occurrence I hadn't factored them in. I do miss eating out - we used to do that quite a lot. It felt like part of 'normal' life though rather than a treat so that may be why I hadn't thought of that. Dinner out followed by a movie is what I'd really like to do now. Besides having all our close friends over for a meal. I think it's the 'group' company I miss the most. The laughs and the catch ups. I don't mind the lack of physical shopping (I'm still shopping online) or going to the pub (we didn't). It's the having friends over or going round to theirs that stands out like a big hole in my current activities. Pretty sure it's the same for most people. Hopefully the weather will soon warm up and we can sit outside.

On weekends we used to take the kids to sports training and watch them play matches against other schools.
Kids drama/music/dance clubs when they were younger.
Meet friends for lunch.
Walk into town and run errands, go to the library, pick up a few things at the shops, have a hot chocolate.
Take the kids swimming.
Go into London to a museum, theatre, the cinema, Borough Market, walk along the South Bank, take a random bus and sit on the top deck and pretend to drive and discover a new neighbourhood.
Have dinner parties.
Take our kids to other kids' birthday parties.
Get uniform and sports kit ready for the week ahead.

I used to go to the cinema once a week. I'd get a costa and a donut and just sit in silence for a couple of hours. I miss it a lot xx
