What have you learnt today through remote learning?

Putting a positive spin on the battle with remote learning. Just wondering what everyone has learnt whilst supporting their DC so far.
Today I learnt how to convert a fraction into a decimal without a calculator. I don't think I ever learnt this at school, was examined on it or have used it in adult life, but the teacher did an excellent demo of it and we blasted through the questions straight away.

I've learnt that there aren't enough hours in the day, but I suspect that's not what you meant.

Last week, dd and I learnt all about the roles of women at the end of ww2. We compared the lives of women back then to women now. Dd was horrified with some of the things women weren't allowed to do once the war ended. I think it's made her a bit of a young feminist.

How to conjugate the Spanish verb tener.

A poem I didn't know.

That my wooden dining chairs were not designed to be sat on for 5.5 hours a day.

I already knew my 3x table and multiplying tens by ones.

That my six year old is actually fucking amazing at estimating the length of stuff.

I've learnt who is the class joker, which children are always late to the live session parts, and a whole new way of multiplying that confused me completely

I think I should have titled this thread as what is your DC learning that you weren't taught at school?

Nothing today. But I learned how to convert binary to denery numbers in lockdown 1.0.
I remembered how to do long division last week (I knew how to do it but "carried" the numbers over to the wrong place Blush)

Thankfully ds1 is a maths whizz!

That The Beast from The Chase used to be a maths teacher for 15 years and his way of long multiplication is helpful for mental arithmetic.

Am considering watching some of the secondary school programming out of interest for me like Brian Cox's series on The Planets! I loved school.

Well I learnt some great stuff about Sikhism which I was not aware of .

I also learnt ( and realised ) that my six year old hates learning and struggles remotely even more so.

That cows are the deadliest animals in England if you go by the most deaths per year.

@Doublechins

That cows are the deadliest animals in England if you go by the most deaths per year.

Ha ha! I say this all the time and no one believes me! To be fair to cows, I think the greatest risk is if you have a dog with you, but I will not go through fields with cows in when I've got the dog (and I always have my dogs on a lead around livestock as I have horses and goats).

Menacing fekkers. I feel vindicated.

I learnt that my 5 year old cannot sit through a lesson without pulling faces at himself in the camera
