I've exhausted my Rightmove stalking so have moved onto daft.ie to buy my fantasy Irish retirement home. I thought you might enjoy this one:

Any colour as long as it's grey:

Not relevant to the thread, but LOL at the website name.

In the UK, in Yorkshire at least, daft means means silly or a bit stupid, does it not mean that in Ireland?

I’m from the North and it certainly means - a bit silly - here.

That was the broadcaster Gerry Ryan's house!
For me the let down is that for that size house the garden is very small, and no driveway!

For any Irish people reading - this is Gerry Ryan's former family home AFAIK.

That house belonged the the late Irish radio/tv broadcaster, Gerry Ryan. What the pictures don't show is that there's a small housing estate immediately behind it, accessed down the side of the house. I wouldn't spend €2m on a house with cars whizzing up and down the side. (Not that I have €2m to spend anyway Grin)

[quote ZestyDragon]God, I hate grey. Clontarf is right on the sea which I like.

These are beautiful though:

They are in a beautiful part of the country.

Really? I didn't know it was his. I liked GR back when I lived in Dublin. I think it's a great house but so unbelievably GREY!

And yes, I think the name daft came from the time the Celtic Tiger / house price bubble was seen as crazy by many.

Ha ha. You'd have to be daft to pay these prices?

@BarbaraofSeville indeed.

The Glandore house is gorgeous but has a very strange wall around the back garden.
