Has anyone bought a house recently? How long does it take from receiving your mortgage approval and completion?

Hey.
We are in a pickle.
I would massively appreciate any insight as we are new to this.
How long did it take between receiving your mortgage approval and moving into your new home?
Thanking you in advance.

I think it depends on lots of things... surveys, issues, solicitors.
We offered on a house and had a mortgage in August, we are hoping to move in 2 weeks time. We've had lots of issues with it tho, so I think our timescale is not the norm.

Oh dear. Have you not moved yet? Two weeks would be good. We have had to wait three months just to get our mortgage offer! I was really hoping it would be quick after that.

It depends on lots of things. Have you had survey/searches back? Are you in a chain and if so where are other people in the chain up to? A lot depends on solicitors as well. It only goes as far as the slowest person in the chain. We got our mortgage offer late Oct and still don't have a date to move.

It’s slow at the moment because of the surge of demand the stamp duty holiday has created. As pp have said it also depends on individual circumstances too.

We had a mortgage offer in the first week of September and moved on 14 Dec, although our buyers were a nightmare and everyone else was ready 2-3 weeks earlier than them. As others have said it depends on the exact situation. Good luck!!
