Lighthearted. What trivial stuff does your OH angst about?

Disclaimer. Yes, I know there are worse things to think about. I have them too, but this is a distraction from them. So if anyone says, "I wish that's all I had to worry about". A. You haven't read the OP, let alone RTFT, and B. This is no thread for negativity! I'll start. We have a very beautiful, but temperamental wall clock. It's vair old, so can be forgiven I think. The clockmaker from whom we bought it handles it splendidly, and can make it go for about 3 days on a single wind. (pre covid). But us? No....if we can get 12 hrs out of it, that's a result. You have to do this manouvre that involves holding the clock to the wall whilst winding it, re setting it, and then making the pendulum swing again, and not upsetting it while you close the glass. If it moves on the wall by about a mm, it refuses to go properly. I know this because the man originally mounted it not on the level, and not being able to stand things on the wonk, I moved it about 2mm to level it up. All hell broke loose, the clock stopped and The Clock Man had to be chased down the road to intervene, while both men acted like I'd personally killed their kitten left to them by a dying relative... So, to avoid the angsting when the clock has stopped, I rush to attend to it before he notices. I cannot stand the wailing of "The man, the man must come" in a kind of reverse version of Waiting for Godot on steroids. He is otherwise a good husband, and I know he is worried about recent redundancy etc, but for the love of all that is holy! So, please tell me yours. Tia.

Are you the same poster who wails at the thought of the Sistine Chapel by any chance?

No, why would I be? I've had this name for years... Hmm. Did I mention no negativity and by default, sarcasm :)

First post not being in the spirit has got to be some kind of record, surely!

We're selling our house in a hurry. There are a MILLION big jobs to do, mostly related to decluttering, removing excess furniture, touching up the paint & fixing the garden.

My husband has been stumping around for weeks muttering about virtually invisible cracks in tiles, needing to redo (perfectly fine) grouting, wanting to repoint (?) something or other. Two big thoughts in my head - can we please focus on the big things first, then worry about the others time permitting? Two, why has none of this bothered you (or prompted you to do anything about it) in any of the six years we've lived in this house?!?!

I love him, I love him, I love him (continually reminding myself Grin)....

Ah Happy....that sounds a tad vexing. I think a lot of us is some kind of displacement activity, but doesn't stop me wanting to slap him about the face with a kipper or something. Your situation sounds quite stressful. Sympathies.

Accepted. If you AS me you'll find I've been around for a long time under this name. Only name changed years ago because of XH.

Leaving a spoon in the pan whilst I'm cooking. It randomly stresses him out. If I am cooking and he spots it, out the spoon is pulled. Naturally his inference gets on my nerves ( if you're not cooking stay out). I get revenge. Sweet sweet revenge. When he's out of the house, I send photos of my pan cooking with a spoon in it telling him there's nothing he can do..... Evil Laugh.

Packing. Anything - a suitcase, shopping into a bag, shopping bags into the car boot, rubbish in the recycling bin. Everything must be Packed Correctly. I just leave him to it while screaming silently into a pillow.

We have a Brita filter that sits on the draining board. The histrionics bought on by DS or I not refilling a) the kettle or b) the filter, are totally mind blowing. Should both be empty DH is in danger of spontaneous combustion.

Like a PP, there's a raft of other big and important things that he could legitimately be stressed about but which sail over his head Hmm

See, now I'm feeling a bit sorry for the empty filter jug, sitting forlornly under a cupboard, cos I CBA to do the soak the filter, and shake it until the bubbles stop thing. Perhaps Brita Angsty could be my revenge? :)

Same here. That Brita jug-it's an obsession. It should be full and in the fridge at all times. Grin

Temporary loss of the tv remote generally causes a lot of angst too. Much more than the loss of anything else.

Ah you see @SpongeBobJudgeyPants even if you had been the Sistine Screamer you'd still be my favourite mumsnetter in perpetuity for your OP alone.

I have nothing to match it, nevertheless my DP won't let the kids touch the walls. Ever. It's like a crack in the space time continuum will occur. I obviously deliberately touch a wall nearest to me every time he is turning away, just so...

Bins. How long does it take to wheel 2 bins 75cms onto the street. We don’t even have a complex bin schedule. Both bins every week. 🤨

DH obsesses about defrosting frozen peas. Peas for dinner appear in the microwave around lunchtime then have a random defrost setting at various times in the afternoon before finally being (microwave) cooked for dinner.

I've tried telling him that you cook them from frozen but he won't have it. Hmm

Don't get me started on frozen pizza... Or semifreddo desserts!

Holiday packing. Panics that we will have too much stuff that will make it difficult to manage at the airport. I don't know why it stresses him out so much.

Thanks @Alonelonelyloner. I have a more childish version of your wall-touching. Sometimes, when it all becomes too much, when DH is in the kitchen,(out of sight) I actually throw him the V sign. Right hand, followed by left, rinse and repeat. I shall be old enough to have free prescriptions very very soon, so I am really old enough to know better. Sometimes I do it when driving, and someone turns out in front of me or something, it's like I forget that they can actually see me Grin

Bins and peas! Packing has appeared twice now, so that must be a thing. I find travel, or particularly airports, quite stressful, so that could be some of it. Still hard work though. :)

FreeButtonBee bins here too. We're in a four in a block and DP takes the shared bins out every week, whoever is home first once emptied brings them in. The other flats do other communal chores and it works well. But fuck me, the obsessing. What colour week is it? X has walked passed the bins twice now and not brought them in. Someone has put paper in the general bin. Have the bin men been yet? They're late this week. IT'S SNOWING DP!!!! I can see my dad slowly emerging Confused

There is a comedian who does a fab bin sketch. I tried to link it from FB, but it won't let me.
