So did anyone clap in your street last night?

I did look for a thread on this and couldn't see one.

Quite a few people in our street joined in the clapping in March, but last night you could have heard a pin drop Grin Any die hard clappers out there, or has it fizzled out?

no idea

it was freezing all day yesterday and I doubt anyone went outside in the evening.

Aren't many NHS workers against this?

No. It was pitch black & freezing cold.

Absolutely not, there was a thread last night, nobody did it going by the negative comments

No one did it my street

Nope; pardon the pun, but it’s a clapped out idea which the key workers don’t value.

No. DH told me he'd heard that the woman who'd called for us to restart clapping hadn't even done it as she'd had too much vitriol on social media for suggesting it. Not sure if that's right.

nope!

I've no idea, I was in the shower. I'm not doing it because I've seen several key workers asking us not to, as they prefer us to stay home safe.

I will do what helps them the most. Clapping is not it.

No 😂 there were loads last year, even some banging pots and pans. But nothing yesterday.

Didn’t hear a single person here (west London).

No, thank god. In the first lockdown a neighbour used to come out and play somewhere over the rainbow on a trumpet while everyone clapped. Not long after wed got our toddler to sleep. We never took part in the first place tbh, our neighbours probably think we're evil!

Only the one here - and it wasn’t me!

Report
SciFiScream · 08/01/2021 19:38

Nope. Pitch black and -4°c last night never mind the wind chill factor. Brrrrrr

Report
Grooticle · 08/01/2021 19:39

Nope. There’s been lots of people sharing on social media that doctors and nurses don’t want people to do it.

Judgmental neighbour sent a call to arms in the street WhatsApp group mid afternoon, no one replied, they clapped alone in the snow.

No. Not since I understood how devaluing people found it.

DrDreReturns · 08/01/2021 19:43

I had a peep out the window and no one was doing it. It was probably too cold!

Report
BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 08/01/2021 19:43

Nope. No mention of it on our die-hard, competitively over helpful community board either

Report
AuntieStella · 08/01/2021 19:43

No.

If I'd heard anything I'd probably have gone out to join in, in a fit of neighbourliness, but zilch

I was at work and heard no clapping. DD confirmed no clapping at home either.

FreshFreesias · 08/01/2021 19:46

I’d rather clap for those whose lives and businesses have been destroyed by lockdown - the pub owners, those in hospitality etc

Saw somebody moaning on the local group that they went out to clap with food to share with the whole street ffs but nobody else came out. They couldnt see how this could be an issue.

Nope on the same day government announced pay freeze for nhs staff - pretty hollow wouldn't it be

Report
Suzi888 · 08/01/2021 20:03

No, because we have neighbours across the road who work for the NHS and they work shifts.
