Changing surname to something else?

I’m not a huge fan of my surname -being NC with family being one-

As time goes on I get more of an urge to change it. I’m in half a mind to just change it to my middle name so essentially just chopping off my surname. Or if I should take the name of a great-grandparent that takes my fancy.

Just wondering if anyone else has done it, and what they’ve done?

I am looking to do this too. I was considering using an author I admire, or one of their characters.

Never considered this. Actors/actresses have sometimes used their middle name as surname as their stage name, so if you did this it would not be unprecedented.

I’m not a fan of my married surname. It’s only slightly better than my maiden name!! I’d go for my mother’s maiden name, but DH isn’t keen on it.

As we can’t agree on a name from our family trees we’ve been looking at names that pop at in the credits of tv shows and films.

I quite fancy ‘Hastings’ from Poirot! Blush
