Not even half a miserable pound......

have I lost this week, despite

  • upping my activity levels
  • eating only wholesome healthy meals, I’ve also been eating gut-healthy food like sauerkraut and natural yoghurt
  • eating no junk at all - no chocolate, crisps or sweets
  • no eating after 6pm

Raging! This Christmas (and general 2020) weight is going to take more to shift than I thought.....

Same here - it definitely gets harder to shift weight as I get older, and I don't get the initial drop I used to!

It works though, it just takes a bit longer to get going. I lost 5 stone last year with good old diet and exercise, so I know if I persevere it will start coming off.

Keep going and focus on feeling better and having more energy!

Track your calories it's boring and rubbish but wholesome meals can sometimes contain a lot of calories.

Depends on your portion size op.

I find eating a lot of carb heavy healthy meals stops my weight loss.

I swap out the carbs a few times a week for more veg or protein and it gives it a bit of a kick again.

I'm also very aware I over eat.

Oh that’s an amazing achievement, well done you! Thank you for the encouragement - I’m definitely going to stick with it but I must admit I wanted to shout ‘oh come oooonnnn!’ at the scales. I really did turn into a greedy piglet over Christmas and didn’t deny myself anything so I thought stopping all that would have made a difference, sadly not yet haha

I seem to work on a week delay these days. This week’s hard work shows next week in the scales. Hang in there.Smile

Definitely will have to check the calories more. Thankfully DC have a place in school next week as I’m a keyworker, so going to try squeeze in a quick lunchtime walk too

I pigged out over Christmas and enjoyed every minute of it, knowing that it would have to be paid for Grin

I did find last time that although it took a few weeks to show any difference on the scales, once it did get going it was pretty steady. And it doesn't take many pounds off to start feeling a real difference.

Weight loss is not something that happens week on week. It happens month on month.

A 1.5lb loss of fat in a week could easily be outweighed by water retention, slower digesting food, hormonal fluctations and much more. Yoy lose 1.5lbs of fat but eat differently and move more and your muscles may well hold onto 1.5lbs of water = zero loss on the scale that week. Sooner or later the water gets dumped and the loss appears.

There just is sure no way of seeing your 'fair' reward for a week's effort after just one week. Frustrating though it is.

If you keep it up and haven't lost anything within (at minimum) 4 weeks, then something is up.

I've lost 48lb since August last year, had a bit of a break over Xmas and am now back to pre-Xmas weight, the scales are a weird weird Illogical thing. They go up when they should go down and down when they should go up. The important thing is to try for consistently sticking to your calorie limit and overall you will see a downward trend.

I did a challenge where I weighed every day for 100 days, as you'll see I went up and down but overall trend was down.

Oh and take measurements of waist, hips, chest, thigh and upper arm and redo them monthly. Even if the scales don't move you'll see a change in measurements. I've lost 6 inches on my hips, 5 on my waist, 4.5 under boob and so on. Total of 22 inches down on starting measurements.

If your period is due soon it could affect what you see on the scales. I try to only weigh my self just before ovulation each month as I feel like I'm getting a realistic reading.

Yep, takes a while to show on the scales.
