I'm cutting myself off

It's only 3 days into lockdown & I can't cope with anyone. I've left long standing WhatsApp groups, Facebook communities - basically I just don't want to hear anything anyone has to say - I don't have the headspace for them.

Like many I'm juggling work & home ed & am disproportionately annoyed by everything.

I'm normally quite solitary, but wondering if I've gone too far.

So why are you on here?

Im feeling a bit like that myself. It's all coming in from all angles and at least on here I can choose what to read and no pressure to respond. I feel stressed beyond belief - partly as I'm in the middle of a house move though.

Same. Everything and everyone pisses me off. So I've cut them off and blocked WhatsApp and deleted messenger. Also wfh with secondary school child having (non existent) online lessons.

I agree. I’ve stopped watching the news and I’ve blocked a load of Facebook friends for 30 days. Taking some time out.

I've left a community Facebook group because the stupidity, constant bickering and petty sniping was getting me down. I don't talk to anyone outside my home unless I absolutely have to. I am naturally very solitary though.

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone (even though I am!). I don't know why I'm feeling like this but I literally can't cope with people & have a really low tolerance.

You are not alone. Everyone is pissing me off. Just feel I’m surrounded by hypocrites/selfish/deluded ppl.
It’s probably me being disproportionate/over sensitive so the sensible thing is to withdraw a little from the source.
I guess it is still important that you have some social contact with ppl you love though..

There’s an awful lot of kindness come out of all this, and a great deal of stupidity. If you haven’t got the headspace, walk away from most of it but don’t burn your bridges. Taking a break is good for you.

Well done, a lot of people pay for professional coaching or counselling to get to the point where they realise that the things they're doing out of habit are no longer serving them and they can give themselves permission to prioritise what they need right now.

So many people at work today saying they feel like this. I don't know if it's bad news overload, COVID fatigue and the January blues all in one go. Hope you feel brighter soon.

I feel the same too! Would love not to speak to anyone for few weeks. Need some downtime from everything.

I deactivated my Facebook account a few days ago, and honestly haven’t missed it at all. I’m surprised at how easy I’ve found it, and I do feel better for not looking at it all the time.

I’m also making a conscious effort to look at my phone less in general. I downloaded a nice motivational book to my Kindle and have been reading that instead.

MN is literally the worst place to be if you dont want to hear what people have to say. A LOT of opinions flying round....

I’ve done the same and feel better for it.

I came off Facebook ages ago after realising hearing everyone's opinions, all the time, conflict, showyness, self-centred and self-riteousness was just toxic for my mindset. I feel so much better without it. I go on once a week or so just to check community pages, but it bores and angers me mostly now so I'm not on there for long. I have Instagram and am VERY selective about who I follow, just mostly lovely calming images of things I enjoy looking at that make me feel happy inside. Anything starts to piss me off in the slightest and it is swiftly unfollowed!

MN is different from WhatsApp or FB though, I'm not sure why. For me i think it is because it is anonymous and easy to skip anything annoying while getting immersed in what someone should name their new hamster.
