Handhold DH heading to ICU covid

Wardrobes123 · 02/01/2021 08:57

DH went to hospital yesterday for breathing issues. We’ve been unwell for a few days and we’re already awaiting covid tests.

Just been told he’s taken a turn and is heading to ICU. He is ECV and we’ve been so careful, we’ve not been out except to the supermarket, and we’ve avoided seeing anyone.

I’m just so worried and I know the next few days will be critical

I’m here @Wardrobes123, hoping your DH turns the corner and is back with you soon Flowers

Do you have RL support?

He's in the best place now, getting the best care which has improved so much since the March lockdown (as we have learnt more about the virus)
Sending you all the love and positive vibes in the world. DaffodilDaffodil

Thanks. I have it too so feel really rotten, and means I can’t see him or see anyone else.

It feels so nerve wracking not knowing or being there.

He’s only early 40’s too and had been looking forward to getting the vaccine in feb (advised by his clinical team that’s when he could be getting it).

Oh I feel sick.

Handhold here too OP
I can only imagine how worried you must be but I’m sure they will take great care of him

Make sure you look after yourself if you are poorly too.

The positive thing is they are intervening much earlier , and the chances of recovery are excellent . This new varient is much more transmissable and I think we are all going to struggle to avoid it . Fingers crossed he will rally very soon xx

Flowers They can do a lot more to treat serious cases now as jessy said. Is someone there to look after you?

Outcomes are so much better now than they were in April. He is young which makes a big difference too.

Hand hold from me! Do you have anyone local who can also help you from a distance as you’re poorly too?

Report
Wardrobes123 · 02/01/2021 10:03

I’ve got good family who can drop off food and essentials.

I’m hoping things have improved treatment wise 🤞

We’ve got two children (older children/teens) and the youngest is sat with me now.

As others have said, they know a lot more about how to treat this now than they did. Hope he (and you) recover quickly

I know it's hard @Wardrobes123 but try and stay positive. My Dad recovered and he is elderly and had pneumonia too. The treatment has got so much better in the last 6 months.

Oh Wardrobes, I’m so sorry. It feels really mean somehow, with the vaccine so close for the CEV group.

As PPs have said, they’re able to do lots more treatment-wise than in the first wave; & ICU will be the best place for your DH to get the best possible care. The most important thing you can do just now is take care of yourself while other people get your DH better for you.

Has your DH been able to get on the priority list for supermarket deliveries? I realise that might seem like the last thing to be thinking about just now, but hopefully he’ll be home with you sooner than you expect; & you’ll not want to be going to the supermarket.

I hope both that you feel better soon & that your DH recovers well & quickly Flowers
