Anyone got the Mario LEGO set?

Just curious, is it worth the money?

We didn't get it for Christmas, but was thinking about getting it for ds birthday.

He says it is really good and is worth £45. I'm not sure what it actually does.

If you have it, do you / your dc find it entertaining?

I'm not sure it worth it. We have it, got it at the start of the month. My kids have played with it about twice! I'm not sure if we are just not 'getting' it? They love Lego and mario too!
I'd love to hear from others as to what to do with it as at the moment we just set it up and tap Margo over it so it makes noises 😂

DS3 got the starter pack, bowsers castle and five or six of the other sets. It's still very much a work in progress!

My DS is a huge Lego and Mario obsessive. He won't touch these at all - he says they're not worth the money (he's 9 Hmm) as they only do one thing, not much scope for imaginative play and you're paying for the licence and electronics rather than the bricks. If you're somewhere you can get to a lego shop (I know this may be more challenging at the mo) they've usually got sets out to show it off.

This is what I don't understand. I've watched people on YouTube play with it and I just don't get it.

We got our youngest a starter pack and power up pack for his 4th birthday, he absolutely loves it. It's by far and away the thing he plays with most. And it's really engaging for me and DH, plus his older brother to play with him, so we've got him a few more sets today

IMO no it's not. DS is the biggest Mario fan going and like Lego and he played with it a few times but is bored with it. He has the starter set, Yoshi set and Bowsers castle. It's flimsy for Lego and you don't get an instruction book, you have to use an app, which even I found hard to decipher in places.

Is the app a really big part of it? I like LEGO as it gets them away from the screens.

The only mario set I want is the SNES and TV set but I think it's over £200 so it's not happening right now!

The other Mario sets aren't great value and I display Lego so would need many of them to become a scene so is rather not bother with them and save for the big set I mentioned above.

I say this as a fan of both Lego and Mario.

Yes you use the app for the instructions and it keeps a tally of your coins.

Tbh I do think it is good for the imagination, because we make different courses and try to see how many coins we can get each. But then as I said he's only just turned four so perhaps a better age for it

My 7 year old ds loves it he is always building and rebuilding it in different ways.
I don’t like the fact you have to use the app though as said above I want him away from screens.

I would say not good value, far fewer pieces than equivalent lego sets and the app is annoying, but DS does really love it, and often plays with the characters we have and the blind bags are good for adding to those. He does sometimes make courses etc as well - but I think you need more than the starter set for that so its then very expensive.
