What's your newest hobby?

I know that there have been lots of new hobby threads over the summer etc but I'm really excited about my latest one and really want to hear other people's!

I have started arranging songs for close harmony accapella/barbershop quartet style groups. I don't know anyone who would want/be able to learn/sing/perform them and it's purely for my own satisfaction/entertainment Grin

What are you doing to keep you sane?

Keeping sane?
Staying away from the tv, radio and the news in particular.
Only watching Netflix
It was insane the amount of doom mongering on cornwalls greatest hits station..how do people listen to that crap pouring out all the time..now I know why so many in this country are so scared if that’s what they are listening to.

I’m just keeping life as normal as possible, doing what I’d normally do pre covid.
Getting out and about, shopping, going to the magnificent beaches near here. Seeing family.
Drinking peppermint tea and cake when out.

I’m not saying it’s a new hobby but I did make myself a fleece petticoat to stay that bit warmer when out on travels.

I'd agree with all the staying away from the media stuff! The people I know who are most worried are those who follow everything and keep themselves informed. I just follow the rules and get on with it.

I suppose I was in a huge slump WFH before and really struggled to motivate myself to do anything. My previous hobbies were all very sociable and required meeting up with others to do properly (music performance related). I seem to have found a bit of motivation from somewhere to do stuff and it's making a big difference!

I like the sound of the fleece petticoat though!

Crochet.

I used to crochet many years ago, but started again recently. I’ve made little cardigans for two new babies in the family, a hoodie for my toddler gt nephew and am now 3/4 way through a king size blanket for my bed.

Has kept my screen time down too which is good becauseI was just aimlessly scrolling stuff on my ipad.

We are about to buy an aquarium. We had one years ago and loved the hobby, but we moved house and sold everything.

I have tried crochet over lockdown too, but I can't seem to get the hang of it.
