Will you use your slow cooker over xmas?

Im wondering if there’s something i can cook to save oven space to put in on xmas eve maybe? Its so last minute and im working until tomorrow. I havent had it long so not really that confident. A ham, maybe?

I use it for the pudding. Put it in when I get up and it’s hot for whenever we get round to eating it.

I put the gammon in the slow cooker last thing before I go to bed on Christmas Eve and prep all the potatoes and veg.

I'll be doing my gammon in it on Christmas Day. 6 hours on low, no added liquid, it cooks to perfection!

I steam the Xmas pud in mine. Put the pud on an upturned saucer, water in the bottom, leave it for a few hours.

Safer than messing with a saucepan Of boiling water after several glasses of wine.

I've already made my red cabbage and normally do a ham Xmas eve.

On the day, I use it to keep my carrots and broccoli hot so I can get them ready a bit ahead of serve up time.

I will. I have a very small oven. We're having lamb on Christmas day and I'll cook that in the slow cooker

I do my turkey overnight in my big slow cooker and my gammon goes in my small one first thing Xmas morning. I also do as much of my veg in my electric steamer so it leaves my oven free for potatoes, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding and pigs in blankets Smile

Any red cabbage recipe would do, just put it in the slow cooker for 3 or 4 hours. Too long and it will lose its colour. I throw in shredded red cabbage, sliced onions, sliced apples and a glug of cider or wine vinegar. Sometimes I add raisins or dried cranberries. Most people, I think, put bacon in but my husband doesn't eat meat. My daughter uses a recipe (either Gordon Ramsay or Jamie Oliver) that has star anise in. It's the sort of recipe that is infinitely variable as long as you have the basics of red cabbage, onion, apple and vinegar.

Ham with some honey, wholegrain mustard and about 150ml water. On all day Christmas.

I've done a leg of lamb for xmases past in the SC but this year we're not having a traditional dinner so going to use it for a warm punch (apple juice, cinnamon, whiskey, chopped apple).
