A place to declare your ridiculous pre-Christmas thoughts

''Twas less than a week before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse...

While everyone sleeps I'm trying to work out what order to cook everything, and also where on earth DC's new things will all go.

Maybe Santa will bring me an extension

I was all tucked up warm in bed then remembered tomorrow is the last bin day pre Christmas so ran downstairs to try and get rid of any existing rubbish and stick it all in the outside bin. It’s chucking it down out there, I didn’t have much on in the way of clothes, didn’t put any shoes on, dh has already put the bins out on the street... I was warm and now back in bed freezing 🥶
Not a pre Christmas thought as much as a bonkers pre Christmas action Grin

All I can think about is how I have to get through 4 days of work first. It seems an age off...😫

I've been debating about buying an entire Brie for about a fortnight. Its only me who eats it.

I'm sending DH off to Asda tomorrow morning to panic buy me five. He doesn't know this yet.

Unlike most of the rest of the country, my plans for Christmas have changed by now having a guest. My dad was due to travel to my sisters but is now coming to me. I'm having to get my head around hosting, cooking a meaty Christmas dinner, getting dressed, and spending the day with a grumpy Brexiteer who would rather be at home by himself but my sisters told him that wasn't an option. I feel so bad for complaining, but I'd opted out of family Christmas in September as didn't see how it could be safe, and had got a day all planned that was just special for me and DH and now I have to face the bloody supermarket to buy everything else, with my dad already telling me he knows my Christmas Dinner won't be as good as my sisters, but he knows I'll do my best.

Can you conspire with your dad so that he gets to stay home by himself but neither of you tell anyone? You could make him a dinner to heat up.

I've just wakened for a dream/nightmare where Brexit/the virus caused us all to live in a horrific apocalyptic nightmare Sad

I literally spent what felt like hours in my dream trying to encourage people to not jump off bridges, giving random cpr to people in the street and delivering food parcels for unicef to kids in Peckham Shock

Clearly my mind has read all the news and turned it into a ' you think you're responsible for everything' dream for me Hmm

(I really need to finish work and have a break - have had quite a few really distressed/suicidal clients over the weekend)

I thought that, but my sisters have decided to video call us opening our presents, which is just another obligation in my obligation free day, and means I need a timetable, and also that I can't get up at 5am and open them like I want to!

GrinGrinGrinonly five? But what if they're so delicious you eat them all... then you'll be sad at only buying five and not six....

Tomorrow is Asda day, but according to the radio I'll have to sell the family silver in order to get a bag of fresh carrots due to panic buying. I hope all the people who panic bought first time round are sitting happily in their toilet roll forts and are looking forward to pasta on their Christmas dinner!

@dillydallydollydaydream7 I went to Tesco at 6am this morning and there was plenty of food

My crisis is that I'm doing nigella's brined turkey a la mick in Gavin and Stacey, but it's a frozen turkey, so I don't know when to take it out and I keep going over the timings and scenarios and I can't work it out.... it's causing me a great deal of stress to be honest!

6 days overdue. Will this baby come before Christmas, or on Christmas Day, or will I have to be induced after Christmas?

Will he hate me for having his birthday so close to Christmas (even though I’ve been ready for him to arrive for 3 weeks).

How am I going to organise food delivery and food collection if I’m in hospital.

I spent a ridiculous amount of time this morning debating whether I should go to town to buy a trifle bowl. I have plenty of bowls, just not fancy trifle bowls. There are only four of here and only two of us like trifle.

We've had the brie debate in our house. Very worried about the French cheese related supply chain.

Aw @MaverickDanger best wishes Flowers

I have a food delivery coming wed evening. I'm in Ireland so nobody is panic buying but I'm still wondering what will come/be out of stock. I already have a Turkey and some frozen veg, some treats and some wine so thankfully we should be able to manage regardless of what actually comes.

I need to go and check if the car we got for toddler needs batteries. I have stocked up on AA, AAA and the big rectangle shaped one but would be just my luck that it will need something different.

The large fruitcake I made won't last until through Christmas. I think I'm going to have to make another one. (There's only DP and me.) Blush

I'm going to become a pagan in 2021. Currently not affiliated with any religion or spirituality.

Thinking of naming it "Paganuary"

Yesterday I thought I had too much food given that I'd bought for company we are now not having. I started making special meals yesterday with the plan to continue this for at least 7 days, next food delivery isn't until Monday and I now fear that if I carry on like this we will actually run out. We will be so healthy though, I'm refusing to make things with rice/pasta/bread so that we use up the mountains of fresh food.

@muddledmidget that is my trauma too. Our first Christmas, just us and the children. No driving everywhere or family faff. And yet we're obliged to zoom everyone to open presents, do crackers, etc etc, on both sides of the family, and it's a massive logistical ballache.

Wondering how to blitz the house with a 2 and 4 year old in tow. Not only is it my first Christmas without my ex husband (ruined every year), my new partners mum is coming as well as my family. She is lovely but I'm anxious that it will go well, everyone will like each other and she won't be overwhelmed by my toddlers.

Last bin day tomorrow, so as pp did, I will grab all the rubbish tonight once the children are in bed and chuck it out. I already panic trimmed the hedge last week.

Ahhh, was just wrapping presents for ds teachers as it's his last day tomorrow.

Had 3 to wrap (he has sn so the teacher and 2 assistants). He then told me Mrs O isnt in tomorrow, Miss M is instead. Apparently Miss O has been there every Tuesday since September so he has been with her every Tuesday. I didnt know and couldnt send in presents for the others and not her!! So have had to re-
Wrap sil's present for Miss M, and now need to get something else for SIL.

Upon discovering Boris ruined my boxing day plans of party food with the mil2b (and the 3 other adults and 1 child in the her hoursehold). I thought I'd invite them for Christmas day instead...

6 adults and 1 child...Of course I've cooked for that many people but never The Christmas Dinner. I'm now panicking I won't cook enough (has never happened), no-one will like it. That they'll arrive early and be hungry.

That I'll burn the turkey. I was told to stop being stupid when I asked my dp (at 23.30) to find out what takeaways were going to be open just in case.
