We are thinking of moving to Wellingborough - currently live in Milton Keynes but would get more house for our money by moving on a little bit. We are looking at 10 mins from the town with good schools etc. We know that there is extensive development going on but we would be looking at the area around the town that is already full of housing

Would you be looking to commute back to MK at all?

If so, I’d say look at Northampton - Hardingstone/Wooton area is really lovely and great connections back to MK.

Personally I don’t love Wellingborough but it’s been a few years since I’ve been around there so it might’ve changed.

Rural villages outside Wellingborough are nice

Not Wellingborough or Northampton. Head to the Northants countryside, much nicer.

Lived there until earlier this year (moved for work). Wilby Way Estate is nice, as is the Gleneagles area. The town is no better or worse than anywhere else around there. Not t a huge amount of shops, but 5 minutes from Rushden Lakes. Northampton is a total shit hole these days, full of pound shops and little else.

Yes, the villages are nicer, but bloody expensive compared to Wellingborough itself.

Some very nice little villages dotted around outside Wellingborough. Burton Latimer.
, Finedon, Irthlingborough and Higham Ferrers, the Addingtons are all nice.

We moved to Wellingborough from London this year and I can only say good things. I don't miss London one bit. I think there is an increasing London population here. Taking into account the easy commute I suppose. You have beautiful country parks in less than 10 min drive in every direction, huge playgrounds, friendly people and clean air. It's much more diverse than I expected, we were pleasantly surprised.

@ MNova I am looking to move soon but have heard lots of negatives about Wellingborough. Please tell me is it really worth it? Or should I be looking elsewhere. I have been looking at the new development there.

The town centre isn’t great anymore but where is. Good shopping at rushden lakes, lovely country park and villages with pubs.
Can you join the local Facebook pages? It’s a good way to gauge if there’s much trouble and if what sort?

It’s quite run down.
