I've lost a Christmas present!

Just went to wrap everything and I can't find one of my dd's main presents! An Instax mini camera and film. It's not where I thought it was and I've just emptied every cupboard and still can't find it 😭 I thought maybe I had imagined buying it but checked my John Lewis account and there it is- delivered 6 November. I'm such an idiot. Don't know why I'm posting, just a rant. So so so annoyed with myself. I'll have to buy another 😭😭😭

Right, just ordered another. Had to pay for delivery too as it would have come in January otherwise. Idiot!!!

Oh no!! I only list a disco light for DD but it turned up in the garage! Hopefully you'll find the original and can return.

I lost DH’s main present on our first Christmas. I was only 20 so didn’t have much money. I felt so sick. It had fallen into my bucket of handbags. Try looking in “silly” places. I hope you find it.

Do you remember it being delivered and opening it up to check that's what was in the box?

Maybe it wasnt ever actually delivered.

Can anyone cheer me up with stupid things they've done? I once chucked out a load of presents thinking they were rubbish. I'm just an absolute idiot really!

Do you have any old hiding places that it could have been? I always used to put stuff in the understairs cupboard but now ds is more mobile and quite fast I've had to put them in the top of our wardrobe, but I couldn't find several presents when I was wrapping last night. Found them this morning in the cupboard.

Oh no! I lost one of DDs gifts last year, found it this year at the back of the cupboard so I've wrapped it for this Christmas. Wasn't a main present though

Thanks! I think I remember it being delivered as I wanted to open the box and look at it but decided not to. Then again I got DD something from JL for her birthday and it might be that I'm remembering. Can't imagine JL would believe me now anyway.

I lost my best friend's present this year. Looked everywhere and can't find it. Realised a week later it's probably in a handbag I can't find (I usually put important bits in handbags).
A week later and I still can't find my handbag?! Urgh.

How long have you got lol. Thrown out vouchers, money and my personal favourite, medication which can only be provided by the hospital...many phone calls and much embarrassment later they were replaced.

We all do it. At least you have another on the way.

Dh once forgot to bring all.the presents for the children when we went to my parents for Christmas. They were 4 and 6 and so excited about Christmas. DH only realised at 10pm.on Christmas Eve so too late to do an emergency dash to Tesco.
Cue me screaming "So, I bought all the fucking presents, i wrapped all the fucking presents, all you had to do was put them in the fucking car".

If I find it after Xmas I can always return using the receipt for one I just bought. But now I'm thinking I threw it out by accident. I did some bedroom tidying recently. But surely I'm not that stupid (past experience says otherwise ☹️)

Thanks everyone! I feel better already. a couple of years ago DH had got us tickets for a band that he put in an envelope to give to me. Never made it to being opened in Xmas day. That's another mystery! And it was sold out so couldn't replace them.

When ds1 was small we went to my family for Christmas, 2 hr journey & left his main pressie behind. Tg he was too small to notice & was happy with smaller stuff. It was all thomas tank toys & when we got home we realised we had different gauge track and trains anyway, so double fail :(

It's easily done!

My Mum bought us tickets for a pantomime in January (due to go on the 29th of this month) - we moved house in summer and I haven't found the tickets yet despite checking everywhere I "remember" putting them... I'm actually glad Covid has put a stop to it as it means we will get a reissue for next year and she never needs to know Blush

EmmaGrundy that is the stuff of nightmares! What did you do?

Emma that sounds so stressful! And also sounds like something me/my DH would do. I'm not even telling him about the camera as I feel so stupid. I don't think he knew I'd bought it. Now I'm thinking maybe he moved it though...he's not in right now so can't ask. And another one coming anyway!

It'll turn up mid January, it's my party trick

I did this with a video game once. Had to order another. Figured I would find the first and return it under the return window for the second, but I didn’t end up finding it for a year. I hid it way too well.

It'll turn up too late to return most likely,😂. Anyway, at least it was replaceable, although I could have done without an £80 unnecessary spend right now! Merry Christmas! 🎅

I lost a book for ds2 last year. Still haven’t found it. In good news I have found bil’s walnut whips.
I’ve thrown envelopes with money in on the fire before.

My mum has a good one, she bought DB a tee-shirt 5 or 6 years ago. She didn't get to wrap it as it went missing. Every year around the 10th December she finds it, and every year when she goes to wrap it, it's done a bunk. She thinks dad hides it now to wind up.

Mmmmdanone · 20/12/2020 16:57

To add insult to injury it's now £10 off, but extra delivery cost put paid to that small bonus.
