..... ranting to the cashier about it being ridiculous that pet shops being allowed to stay open, for the whole time it took you to unload your trolley full to overflowing of toys and Christmas goodies.... you might like to have a little rethink ...

You might have heard it out of context

My neighbour was ranting about takeaways being open but when I queried it he turned out to be anti lockdown full stop (phew)

Possibly .... but 'we're supposed to be in lockdown so not sure why the pet shop is allowed to stay open' and it's ridiculous that pet shops are allowed to be open when we're in lockdown' I heard loud and clear. Not sure I could have got the context wrong but the cashier was shaking her head and rolling her eyes when I moved forward

I wonder if she’s got a shop that is closed and if she’s got pet shops as an example.

My neighbour was also banging in about lockdown as if he supported it. Some people areN’t good at saying what they mean.

I'm sure people objected to it last time as well. Bit silly, as pets still have basic needs, even during lockdown.

Maybe it was out of context though. Giving her the benefit of the doubt.

Let it go OP. Honestly, there are so many whiners and ranters and people who live to complain (tbh you’re doing that now) that just deciding to let it all wash over you is the only way you’ll come out of this pandemic with anything resembling your sanity. Pick a mantra and channel it when the professional gripers invade your space.

Given that my cat's food is only available via the vets or when ordered in advance to a pet shop certainly the pet shop is a necessary thing! Or maybe she'd prefer my cat to starve or be killed slowly by the food available from Tesco etc.

Toys on the other hand....I'm glad I have no need to buy any currently as I'd be telling the expectant recipient that restrictions meant toy sales were banned.

Am sure the lady in B & M has noted your whinge- fest on this forum and has therefore shuffled off somewhere to have a little re-think. Jesus

I'm not particularly upset by it - just gobsmacked that someone who thinks it's ok to be buying lots of Christmas presents can't see the irony of complaining that pet shops are open. Animals will die if they aren't fed and can become diseased if they don't have clean bedding. No one will die if she doesn't do her Christmas shopping in November.
I'm not even a pet owner, I was just taken aback that she failed to see the irony.

I think there was a thread on AIBU years ago where someone asked if they'd ever recognised themselves being discussed on here! A lot of people said they did...

I don't think I have. Thought I recognised someone else once though, but don't know.

I'm not 'after' anything; I didn't feel the need to say something to her. Was just sharing the irony of her comments, because it was so ironic and vaguely amusing.
Obviously that wasn't a great idea .

Get some balls and say it to her next time instead of crying about it online if you felt that strongly about it.

FFS I am not 'crying', 'whining' or lacking in balls if I felt strongly enough to say something. I thought it was an interesting observation that some people would find amusing or at least see the irony. I didn't expect some of the nasty responses I've had on her, and I don't think it is warranted.

I get what you're saying Rocking. Sounds like the woman in B&M thinks that the only shops that should be open are the ones she wants to personally visit. The others should all close now!

I’m not really getting this we are In a tier 4 in Scotland. I’m in central Scotland. But know lots of people who age away shopping to the retail park in Edinburgh which is a tier 3. No one is there to police this. Then you have the local independent clothes shop, he has to shut but a mile down the road is a large Tesco, who are selling clothes? Utter madness.

You were shopping in B&M too OP, everyone is entitled to their opinion and to buy what they consider essential, which is different for us all. This is going to be a long winter.

There's a tiny bit of me that hopes my Knob Head NDN recognises himself...Xmas Grin

Not really that sure why B&M and Home Bargains etc are open - no fresh food - although Pets at Home, yes they should be.

Exactly that. Someone with a trolley full of non-essential goods moaning about an essential shop being open.

@Dillo10 nothing to get over, no need to be unpleasant.

These threads are funny. Reminds me of the local FB Spotted page ranting at people's driving when they aren't even going to see it. What's the point?

This. As long as the shop you require is open.

Lockdown is tough enough - just leave it. Sounds like she was just making conversation with the B&M cashier.
