Gabriel in a Cabbage Van

Oldies here will get this but for those who don’t, a number of years ago a MN’er received their Christmas Ocado order from Jesus in a cabbage van.

Well today, although not yet advent(I dont think) I am getting my Ocado order from Gabriel in a cabbage van. I think, as a result, advent has started now, so I’m off to drink Sherry and behave badly.

Please make sure it is naice sherry.
Waits for newer MN members to pile on.

If it's Gabriel do you think you should be drinking?

I meant that he might have some... er ... news for you

At least with an Archangel you know he won't deliver you any wee wee with your shopping. That would never have happened with Waitrose <clutches pearls and holds out sherry glass for a refill>

Who's Gabriel and. What's he doing in a cabbage van.confused

Fuss Thu 19-Nov-20 10:49:32

I had Mac in the Apple van once. Amused me more than it should.

Who's Gabriel and What's he doing in a cabbage van.

Undoing the devil's work done back at the warehouse (where they pack the bleach, caustic soda, pulverised biscuits, sherry, and cracked eggs together in one bag confused).

HeatherAndSand Thu 19-Nov-20 10:55:36

We don't need all those 'line eyes' threads. Just ask Gabriel in the cabbage van.

FlibbertyGiblets Thu 19-Nov-20 10:58:02

Hahaha v good. grin

Miip Thu 19-Nov-20 10:58:51

That made me smile. Is Jesus still around? Not seen them in ages.

BoulangerieBabs Thu 19-Nov-20 10:59:16

Damn it I miss Bob/Dotty/Dick in their Cabbage/Lemon/Orange.

Aldi should up their game grin

We had Cyprian in the Lemon van a while back. Seemed only appropriate in Plague season.

Fuss Thu 19-Nov-20 11:14:11

Anyone had the Percy Pig van yet?

nemeton Thu 19-Nov-20 11:15:22

Ahem, if you're beginning Advent, be aware it's actually a period of fasting and abstention before the big celebration...wine

BabyMoonPie Thu 19-Nov-20 11:19:25

I had the Percy Pig van! I was far more excited than I should have been about it. It was a lady driver but sadly she wasn't called Penny

We had our Waitrose chap turn up in a plain white transit van recently. Oh the shame! The only saving grace was it was quite clean, (so no rude writing or drawings in the dust to further lower the tone), and at least he was still wearing a naice Waitrose branded gilet. Otherwise, what would the neighbours have thought?!

HeatherAndSand Thu 19-Nov-20 11:42:55

I am just wondering whether the OP has ordered any Angel Cake?

Incredibly jealous.
I’ve had the rather dull in comparison lemon van this week, though I was ID checked for a bag of bath salts....

Oh, me too! DH looked out of the window and said “Waitrose is here” and I scoffed. Then a be-gileted and masked man got out with a crate of shopping.
They’ve increased their delivery vans x 4 he told me, so they aren’t all liveried.

They'll be coming on the back of a camel soon, Saucery, or maybe a donkey.
