I feel 30 going on 70!
I feel lethargic and just under the weather all of the time
What can i do now to make my older years more enjoyable and without aches and pains

Exercise lots - a mix of cardio, strength and flexibility
Do yoga
Drink lots of water, eat well, take vit D supplement.
Look after your skin. Spf every day.
Pursue things you enjoy that make you happy
Get good sleep

“Older years”? You are 30 Grin (I am 46)

Agree with @doadeer . You need to look after yourself and positive mental attitude. You are young with so much life ahead Smile

Avoid smoking completely, try to drink alcohol and eat bad things on moderation. Lots of exercise and get outdoors (especially at the moment- you need Vit D and fresh air).

Me too OP although I turned 31 yesterday 😭 I literally feel like I have arthritis, I ache and click all the time, I could barely walk today! What’s worse I already take vitamins and do lots of exercise and eat well!

Worth seeing a rhematologist?

Echoing everyone - I'm 51 and in my head I feel exactly the same as when I was 21, it's only when I try to move that the trouble starts. Keep fit, keep strong, keep supple.

@doadeer I am really coming to that conclusion but I am overweight and therefore reluctant until I have lost weight (as I’m sure any problems will be put down to weight?) But I really CANNOT lose weight, am starting with a dietician this week so wish me luck.

Are you hypermobile?
I've had a long journey with this so it's close to my heart.
Good for you in the weight loss 💪 it's so tough

To get rid of aches and pains - Magnesium in the eve, Vitamin D, intermittent fasting (inflammation disappears).
Challenge yourself to do new things. Things which aren't in your comfort zone, like riding an electric scooter, cold water swimming, painting, skiing, C25K, weight lifting, horse riding. (Obviously easier when there isn't a pandemic 😂). This is the one that I find makes the most difference to your sense of self.

Cut out sugar. The reduction in aches and inflammation will be massive. Also hugely improves your energy level.

I'm 61 and feel 30.

I'm lucky to be healthy. I walk and cycle a lot (and didn't when I was your age!). I fast two days a week and eat what I like on the rest.

It's also a state of mind. I'm not sure you can make that happen!

Are you getting enough iron?

Report
Egghead68 · 17/11/2020 22:44

Exercise, eat healthily and get enough sleep.

30 is practically a teenager from my perspective.

Get your thyroid, vit D and iron levels tested.

This is a great thread. I’m 52 and terrible back ache for weeks. Stiff when I stand up from sitting. This week my elbow aches. I’m wondering about arthritis or menopause. Will look at the magnesium tablets, thank you
I’ve also started ten min of yoga a day which I am loving and feel better with.

@doadeer I have no idea re hyper mobile, I guess I would know if I was so probably not. Thanks for your kind reply.

Sorry I know I’m jumping on OP’s thread. I already do 16:8 fasting and barely eat any sugar at all because I do feel better that way. God I feel so down about everything. Hope the dietician can tell me where I can improve as I literally feel there is nothing else left to cut out.

At 30 I felt great.

I started feeling old about 35. I blame the stress of having two kids, two pregnancies and two c sections in two years, trying to juggle kids and work, being seriously anemic, having absolutely no sleep, working stressful jobs, being overweight eating nothing but crap, doing no exercise and having a shit time in my marriage.

Firstly, get yourself to the doctors and checked out for anything like anemia etc. Then reduce the stress in your life, get plenty sleep, eat properly and do some exercise.

Im 40 now. I've just changed jobs to a less stressful one, and have the time and energy to cook healthy meals and exercise again. I feel the best I have in a long time!

I find that exercise makes me feel old. I get achy joints and muscles.
I realised that it was exercise causing it when I had a week off for tonsillitis. The creams and aches disappeared for that week.
