I know it's early, but it's a rainy Sunday & my mind is turning to food already 😋Blush

  • For breakfast we had crumpets & waffles, 'made' by 6-year old DS3 (DS2 had his turn yesterday). We always have a 'treat' breakfast at the weekend

  • Lunch will probably be hm tomato soup or red pepper & goats' cheese tart (50p from Tesco reduced counter on Friday night Grin)

  • Dinner will be roast pork belly joint, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, roasted veg & maybe sugar snap peas (all but peas courtesy of Tesco reduced counter, pork joint for 5 was a particular bargain at £1.25 Grin) May treat the grown-ups to a bottle of white wine to go with it Wine

I am making myself hungry now!

I had toast and marmite for breakfast and some pink grapefruit.
Lunch will be leek and potato soup, which I’m about to start making.
Dinner will be roast pork, roast potato, broccoli and sugar snap peas. Either apple crumble or Eve’s pudding with custard for dessert.
It’s a horrible day, so will probably pour a glass of Sherry before dinner and I found some 50cl bottles of wine, one will go nicely with dinner.

We had bacon eggs and tomatoes for breakfast. Usually every Sunday I do a roast dinner, but its miserable and cold, and I dont want to trek to the supermarket for a chicken, so sausage, mash, carrots, cabbage and Yorkshire puds for dinner today.

I'll have a prawn mayonnaise sandwich in about an hour. Tonight I'm having sirloin steak with oven-baked sliced potatoes, mushrooms and diane sauce. And the other half of a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.

I had a fried egg on buttered bread for breakfast. There are lamb chops for dinner, which we will have with mash and peas. I don't know what to have for lunch and I'm getting hungry.

We had a cooked breakfast which will do us until tonight, when we'll have a local joint of pork roasted, apple sauce, roast spuds and parsnips, sprouts, carrots and gravy, followed by spotted dick and custard, all washed down with sauvignon blanc for me, and beer from the local brewery for H. (This will probably be followed by a snooze).

We need to clear out the fridge today so we’ll likely soup a bunch of vegetables that are going off ‘n soft. Carrots, red pepper, tomatoes, etc. We can top it with Parmesan or cheddar cheese for serving.

Question: should I bother roasting the veg for extra flavour or should I just brown it in the pot for ease? I’m trying to gauge my threshold for getting it done/good enough. :)

There are some green veg too like arugula and broccoli so I might make a separate green veg soup with a potato base. We have a lot of jalapeños to use up.

I also would like to make some Mexican black beans for eating during the week. This will also use jalapeños. The beans can be eaten alone or with rice, cheese or topped with bacon. I sometimes like to wrap them in a tortilla as well.

Sweet potatoes will get roasted in the oven for eating later this week. I think I’ll also roast some chicken parts covered in BBQ sauce for some easy proteins.

Just had last nights left over chilli for brunch.

Tonight we are having Nigel Slater's beef brisket (which is just about to go in the oven) followed by Mary Berry's brioche frangipane apple pudding with custard. I've exercised hard this morning so I can enjoy my dinner! Smile

Breakfast was just the usual toast / cereal

Lunch for kids is wholemeal pitta, humus, sliced roast beef and salad (cucumber, tomatoes, avocado and red pepper). Me and DP will have BLT's soon.

Dinner is still up in the air. I may do homemade breaded chicken (spicy for adults, plain for kids) balsamic new potaotes and corn on the cob.

Or I may do sunny chicken (chicken and veggies in a paprika / tomato sauce) with rice and garlic bread.

I'll put it to a vote with the kids.

Smoothie for breakfast to finish off some elderly fruit

Lunch was using up some bits in the fridge - there was some bean casserole, some stir fry, two boiled eggs, dregs of cheese and cold meat

Supper is a pasta bake and salad - already made the pasta bake so it just needs to go in the oven later to warm through

We had poached eggs on sourdough toast for breakfast.
I’ve just put the oven on to slow roast some stuff lamb breasts for dinner about 5pm with roast spuds, carrots, Savoy cabbage, sprouts, mashed sweede, cauliflowe cheese and possibly Yorkshire puddings but think I haven’t enough plain flour.
Pudding (during the Strictly results) will be scones with jam/clotted cream as a dear friend of mine sent me a Devon cream tea hamper which came yesterday. I love spending a couple of hours in the kitchen on a Sunday listening to the radio and prepping it all. DMIL (who lives alone, we’re her only bubble) is due any minute (she’ll help by opening the sherry and crooning along to Elaine Paige on R2). She’s such great fun (MIL, not EP).

@JingsMahBucket I think roasting the veg is best but will also be fine if you don't!

@confusedofengland thanks for the mental permission. :) And yes to all of these sounding delicious. It made me realize I don’t have a big hunk of meat in the freezer to roast, more so individual pieces like chicken legs, pork chops, etc. I might have to remedy that soon...

My mum made the fluffiest blueberry pancakes for breakfast today so I had 2 (only ate 1 and 1/2 Sad) with maple syrup.

Will be having sticky chicken wings and rice for lunch/dinner (ate breakfast at about 11 so my routines sort of messed up Confused)

If I get hungry again later after my lunch/dinner, I'll probably end up eating something far from healthy Grin

We had croissants for breakfast, then wennt out for a big walk. Back home for pumpkin soup (In the freezer since Halloween!) with home-made bread, then a roast this evening. I'm pondering on whether I can be bothered to do Yorkies, and options for pud.

It feels like a proper winter's day!
