Just had argument with DH and kids joined in.

I’ve just had a petty argument with DH over something that could have been discussed had my three teenage DCs not joined in. End result, they’ve all blamed me, DH took that as a plus for him and now no-one is talking to me. Should add that everyone was still up (apart from me) at 2am and DH then arrived home from work late. I’m so fed up of never being able to talk about something without someone getting involved and everything then escalates. Didn’t help when DH slammed the door and stomped off to bed like the 5 year old he is!

When you have teenagers in the house, pick your battles.

I know, but it’s so difficult sometimes.

Especially if the argument involved their behaviours. Teenagers can be vile :)

Yep. Tell me about it! One starts and then the others wade in. What’s so frustrating is I explained to DH that he was doing something which affected the rest of the family in an adverse way but I’m somehow the one at fault and who everyone resents now.

What was the argument about? If they all agreed you were in the wrong is it possible you were?

DH and I once having a disagreement in a shop, not only did DCs join in but the staff in the shop too.

Problem with teenagers is they think it's all about them and will always side with the parent who is on the defensive. Very political animals.

That's hugely disrespectful of your teenagers and your dh sounds like a twat. What's family life normally like? Is he always a twat? If everyone in my family were ignoring and being nasty to me I'd think fuck them and take myself off to a hotel. Why should you live in that environment?

I'm sorry, but I laughed out loud at that. Blush

Immediately tell them it's none of their business and to butt the hell out! I guess they can trust dad to.be cooking meals, doing their washing and ironing etc for the next week now.

OMG I'm just starting to see this. Thought it was just mine and didn't know it was a teenager thing!

Yep, no washing, ironing and dinner made. They can pissing well starve.
Going to a hotel is a good idea, depending where you live if they’re open.
If they’re not speaking to you, it’ll be peaceful Grin

What was the argument about if they all felt the need to chip in?
I wouldn't do a thing for any of them today

It’s nice to read your posts, some have made me laugh smileannie and others give me food for thought. I’m going to see what today brings and try to talk to DH alone, explain my concerns and then talk to everyone together. But it’s tough. Happy Sunday everyone!
