Someone's sent me a sex toy via Amazon...

GreenMarkerPen4myHen · 09/11/2020 12:06

I'm a relatively new poster under this username but I've been on Mumsnet forever (Korean lady, penis beaker, Pom Bears). I know this sounds very odd but I swear I'm not trolling, or lying.

So last week I got an Amazon parcel addressed to me and there was a sex toy inside. I didn't buy it and there is no record of it in my Amazon orders page. However, I did browse it a few months ago. My husband didn't buy it for me either - I have asked! So who sent it?

Could Amazon possibly be rewarding my loyalty by sending me a gift and they kindly selected this sex toy for me? It's unlikely but I can't see any other explanation - maybe some stupid algorithm came up with the idea?

I'm a bit spooked out because the truth is, I have been toying with the idea of buying this thing; however, I haven't searched for it on Amazon (or elsewhere) since well before March. Can Amazon read my mind...? I haven't spoken about it to anybody either.

Or do I have a secret admirer and they thought this would be a good way to show their affection? Grin My birthday was a few days before the delivery and I think that might be linked.

This a mystery.

Lucky you. What is the toy?

Do you have an alexa? Did you put the toy into a wishlist or similar? I have heard of people who don't have the settings turned off accidentally buying things via alexa. Mine can't shop but can put things in my amazon basket and I accidentally added 24 toilet rolls to my amazon order instead of my regular shopping list a while ago....

Someone has sent it to you! I had an anonymous package (nothing so exciting - it was a couple of toys which I assumed were intended for my kids!). I phoned Amazon and they were nice - said they couldn’t tell me who had sent it (data protection), but that they’d be happy to send a message to the sender to say that they hadn’t added a message and would they get in touch with me as I’d like to say thank you. All was revealed shortly after with a text from a friend. Phone them and see if they can do the same for you!

Hi again,

FadedRed, a brushing scam could be an explanation, I guess! I didn't notice any Chinese postmark on the package though. There was a yellow sticker with the word CYCLE on it, in case it is relevant?

As for somebody posting it me - who? Who would buy someone a sex toy, and more worryingly, how did they know I was thinking of buying it myself?

My son has an Alexa and for that very reason I would not dream of putting any compromising shopping like that in my wish list...

I'm trying to find a way to get in touch with Amazon, but as I didn't order the toy I cannot seem to find a way to speak to anybody about it... Any ideas?

I'm more concerned you've left it a week to investigate this parcel OP... Grin

It wasn't the Lily Allen one was it? She seems to be posting them out to people, although seems to be celebrities 😂

Well, I didn't think much about it initially. But it's on my mind quite a lot! It's not the Lilly Allen toy, it's the Satisfyer Pro so many mumsnetters rave about.

I haven't dared use it yet, but it's calling me from the wardrobe... should I?

Why not? .... 😉

Having read the article, I'm quite intrigued by these seeds. Did you get any, OP?
And does anyone know what they are? Genetically enhanced cannabis? Triffids? Japanese Knotweed?

Could it be one of your friends?

I’m sure there was someone on here a while ago who had a mystery package of hotel chocolate from Amazon. Not nearly as exciting as a sex toy though and I can’t remember if she ever found out where it had come from

There were no seeds in my box, just the toy. How can I get in touch with Amazon without an order number? I just cannot find a way.

This is very odd...

We had a expensive bottle of wine (£35)arrive from Amazon about 2 months ago.

We hadn't ordered it. Amazon wouldn't tell us the sender. We necked it last weekend. 😁

I received a penis shaped lipstick from a Chinese seller. Not sure if it was via amazon but definitely didnt order it myself and have no clue where it has come from. Bizarre. Gave us all a good laugh though.

It's odd because my name is quite unusual and it was spelled properly. I'm starting to worry it is something sinister...

I have opened the packaging, which was still sealed, and there was nothing odd in it like seeds. Just the toy.

Argh -

Have you ordered something else ?- both Mum and I, differnet accounts and parts of country, have had odd parcels from Amazon and upon investigating it turns out the warehouse had fulfilled an order we'd made with the wrong thing.

Occam's Razor - it was your husband, and it's a birthday present. He's playing along.

Don't want to be sinister, but could you have a stalker, who's hacked your devices?

I received some storage baskets and a sleep mask with built in headphones. A swing ball tennis set.

When I investigated was told they send new products to people that purchase and review products in the hope of getting good reviews to launch their sales.

Noooo! It's most definitively not my husband, sadly. He's very unfortunately not into that kind of thing.

I like to entertain the thought that some tall, gorgeous Titan has sent it me as a token of his desire.

If only.

(The toy is very good, btw - I know you all want to ask. 1-minute good).

I once got a sort of off-brand Fitbit thing I hadn’t ordered or looked at. Amazon didn’t seem to know who had ordered it. They said it was a mistake.

Not quite as exciting as yours!

This makes sense as I ordered a set of (non penis shaped) lip glosses that didnt arrive and they have had to resend to me. Also from a chinese seller so maybe there was a mix up of parcels!
