But here we are...lockdown and scaremongering on all sides. How can we ride this out? Any useful tips for fellow mumsnetters to use? Mine are:

Get to bed on time..yes you might not instantly fall asleep but it sets the body clock in motion

Eat well

Every time I get a negative anxious thought I try to balance by thinking of something positive- difficult but getting there

I’m going to avoid the news for the next few weeks. I’m sure if lockdown is extended plenty of people will tell me.
I made a real conscious effort to really enjoy life over the last few months and appreciate the moments of freedom and normality. I’m hoping that having those memories to look back on will help.

Avoid the news, friends on facebook will soon post any changes to the rules.
Get up at your normal time each day, and go through the motions, shower, dress, eat breakfast, clean etc etc

I've decided to stop drinking for November (at least). Alcohol became too much of a crutch during the first lockdown, and I felt like crap for it. Probably ties into your point about sleep!

My tip is to do some form of yoga/ meditation each day. I'm no expert on either, but find just 10 mins of either (with a quickly searched youtube video to help) is manageable and makes SUCH a difference. Connect with a friend or loved one in some way, even texts. Get out for a walk too if you're not isolating.

Fresh air - wrap up warm and get out every day if possible.

I would say get outdoors every day.

And try and see the good in each day.

I am going to be home alone with toddler DS whilst DP works and I know how much better we feel if we've had a decent dose of fresh air, we actually love the rain (prefer it to the sun) so I think that helps.

I don't know. I am worrying that I won't be seeing elderly parents again and I can't think of how to frame it positively or at least not as disasterous.
