NHS staff uniforms

Had a inpatient stay recently, lovely staff and good care but nobody introduced themselves and there’s no “uniform guide” for my hospital online like most Trusts seem to have. Do Scotland and Wales still have national uniforms so you know exactly who staff members are?

From my stay I managed to work out:
Navy blue - sisters but also midwives
Royal blue - staff nurses
Darker royal blue ?
Thin grey stripes - HCAs
Thick grey stripes - student nurses
Nurse in navy blue with teal piping on the ward round ?
Pink - phlebotomists but also maternity support workers

I had a lot of time to ponder this whilst lying in bed!

I was a nurse and have also worked as a SW in a huge teaching trust. There is no standard uniform between trusts. There will also be nurse practitioners, matrons, pharmacists, radiographers, porters, ward clerks and housekeeping to name a few more.

It’s bonkers. Our trust chose black with white trim for matrons and director of nursing but neighbouring trust uses that uniform for pharmacists because they “were bored of green”. Totally bonkers! We do have a guide on the website and on the ward guides but at the moment everyone is in scrubs and masks so even I’ve not got a clue who is who!

We have standard uniforms in Scotland. Greys are students, cornflower blue is staff nurse/midwife. Teal is physio. Navy is the charge nurse/charge midwife. Support workers are light blue, domestic staff in green.
