Has anyone else received a message like this?

I got this earlier and I don't think there's anything wrong with my billing details. It's from a random number and looks fishy to me. I was wondering if other people have received messages like this too?

Yep it’s a scam. I had them from 3 too but knew that 1- my bill wasn’t due yet and 2- they have taken DD from the same account before so no issues

Yes. Its a scam. If you are having problems with EE, they would write to you.

There arectons of scam texts, calls and e-mails out there. So far I've come across, HSBC, tv license, amazon, barclays, HMRC, PayPal.

I got one of those, and I'm with Vodafone, so they are clearly indiscriminate!

It's always a scam. Just delete it.

Yes it's a scam.

Things that are dodgy about it:

• it's from a random mobile number not a named company
• it doesn't greet you by name
• the link doesn't take you to the real ee site. The part before the dot com is the real website address.

Another thing - it tells you to take action immediately. These scams always try to make you think you have to act quickly, so you are less likely to stop and think it through.

I got an automated call from 'HMRC' today telling me I was in big trouble and I should push 1 immediately. Wondering how the fuckers got my mobile number.

We are in Western Canada and get these scam calls and texts all the time. Today my call display said "Illinois". Really? If you really want to talk to me Mr Illinois, leave a message. I didn't answer. No message left. I am sure it would have been something about how I was going to be arrested for tax evasion etc etc.

Another reason it's fake is the name of the link to go to.

They're called domain names and the important bit (that costs money and will be bought up in all its variants by the company) is the name just before the .com or .co.uk

So the real EE website is ee.co.uk and they might have a this.ee.co.uk and a that.ee.co.uk website, but definitely not an ee-somethingrandom.com

Hopefully if anyone else gets a dodgy message from a phone company, having seen this thread will be an extra warning it's a scam.

Yes I've had this! Apparently I was wanted for tax fraud and I have to press 1 immediately or someone is going to come arrest me shortly 😂

There seem to be here, although I could be overly sensitive. I am waiting for an important phone call to schedule surgery and I jump every time the landline phone rings. Almost all the calls are scams. About 2 per day, not counting the text ones that are usually Netflix and cell phone provider scams. Stay vigilant. Make sure your older family and friends are aware. They can sound so frightening if they get through on the phone. And yes, the "urgent" message really works to make you want to click a link. It is hard to resist sometimes.
