I think a lot of men think they are beard warmers.

Vinorosso74 Wed 28-Oct-20 17:27:29

And apparently it's fine to remove them to talk to people hmm

Oxyiz Wed 28-Oct-20 17:29:09

Yes! And you can't just pull it down for a minute because you're in an empty area for a bit - once you do, any virus caught on it so far is going straight to your lungs. Drives me mad.

MozzchopsThirty Wed 28-Oct-20 17:34:53

Oh this drives me fucking crazy, the amount of people I've asked to put their mask on properly

Are people really so thick???

Deathraystare Wed 28-Oct-20 17:36:17

Oh. I thought it was the latest fashion to wear it as a chin warmer. Plenty of people do that!

CompleteBarstool Wed 28-Oct-20 17:37:27

These are also usually the people who reach right across in front of you in the supermarket and don't respect immediate personal space let alone a 1m-2m distance!

Abraid2 Wed 28-Oct-20 17:40:12

I think some people think that because they don’t breathe out through their noses they aren’t likely to be exhaling Covid over people. Only thing I can come up with.

Ynwa12345 Wed 28-Oct-20 17:40:24

Can you tell my fil this please

tofuschnitzel Wed 28-Oct-20 17:43:00

At the start I saw lots of men doing this, but now women are doing it too. I've read that the best way to tackle it is to tell them their mask has slipped.

Treesofwood Wed 28-Oct-20 17:44:42

Oxyiz The mask is to protect others not you.

KinderSurpriseIndeed Wed 28-Oct-20 17:44:52

I confess I just assume they must have unbearably bad breath. I've not yet been brave enough to point it out to anyone because I just assume that the people who know and do it anyway aren't the nice sort of people who'll take my gentle little reminder very well.

MozzchopsThirty Wed 28-Oct-20 17:46:53

Oh I like that gentle reminder
Much better than me shouting 'put your mask back on'

Treesofwood Wed 28-Oct-20 17:47:06

People also pinch them right over their nose and mouth and then continue shopping, touching everything. Or take the whole family's masks off and pile them up on the restaurant table. Stuff them in their bag or pocket, don't clean them, rewear them inside out....

The barrista in Costa was doing this the other day, had it over his bottom lip and that was it. It was quite sinister actually as I could just see his upper teeth, very uncanny to look at. And yes to men pulling them down to talk to me, or more commonly, my children. I've seen women get on the bus wearing them, then take them off once they're out of view of the driver, but none just wearing them wrong so far.

bearlyactive Wed 28-Oct-20 18:04:08

Oh my GOD, YES.

According to my boss, I'm not allowed to tell people to a) put their mask on or b) put their mask on properly. Every day I work, I get one inch closer to disobeying this "rule".

tobee Wed 28-Oct-20 18:15:53

I keep seeing people on tv doing this at football, cricket etc. Someone at cricket (team owner?) keeps guiltily putting back on properly when the camera is on him. hmm

As an aside, cricketers, in their bubble, all seem to be elbow bumping etc, but footballers are still shaking hands. Don't think they are in bubbles either. Are they getting 15 minute tests maybe?

DappledThings Wed 28-Oct-20 18:28:44

Are people really so thick???
Possibly, or just complying with the law to the least degree that they can without actually fully disobeying. More out of apathy than ignorance about how it is meant to be done I suspect.

OP you are totally unreasonable. The mask is to be worn on the chin, removed completely for coughing and sneezing, and pushed down to the neck for shouting.

Al1langdownthecleghole Wed 28-Oct-20 20:56:37

You're all wrong. This week it would seem that the only way to wear a mask nowadays is on your head.

I expect if you haven't got many brain cells you have to do what you can to keep them warm.

halcyondays Wed 28-Oct-20 21:07:33

Watching the football earlier, a guy in the crowd’s mask had fallen right down. So he pulled it back up to cover his chin.

Honeyroar Wed 28-Oct-20 21:10:52

A surgeon at the local hospital walked out of an intensive care ward and off down the corridor with his mask like that when I was walking past taking my mum for a scan!

Annoyance Thu 29-Oct-20 11:22:04

Glad to get so much agreement here.

Better idea, don't get close enough to them for it to impact you?
