Donating baby milk

So, I’ve ended up with 8 boxes of formula (family members were buying one with weekly shopping to help out, we begged them to stop when it was piling up!) and it turns out that my baby can’t tolerate that formula well so we’ve had to swap.

I’ve tried food banks, baby banks, women’s refugees, salvation army’s all in a 15 mile radius they all say they aren’t taking donations at the moment.

Called the health visiting hub for the area, they don’t take them due to safety concerns.

I’d give them away on face book but I know someone would just take them to flog on eBay - they were bought with good intentions by family so I’d really like them to go to a parent who really needs them.

Any ideas?

There are two baby banks in the area - neither take formula, nor do the food banks.

Pop them in your local supermarket food bank collection.

@TeddyIsaHe

Pop them in your local supermarket food bank collection.

Why? As the OP says, food banks don't tend to accept it.

The food banks then won’t take them. I did ask when I called if I could do that. They will end up being disposed of.

Personally I think I'd take my chance in a FB group.

Maybe message admin as they may know who's truly needy in the group.

I think the beat option would be family or a friend who would trust you to use it!

I wouldn’t take formula of a stranger but defo would from someone I know.

That’s a really good idea!

I can imagine a lot of formula is currently going to waste after the mass hysteria of bulk buying it during panic buying!

I don’t know anyone, no one in the family has a baby.

Just put up on your own FB wall "we have X sealed tubs of this going spare - please shout if you know anyone who could make use"

Then your FB friends will share/see if there's anyone they know.

I really am a sad loser with no friends - i only have 20 Facebook friends, mostly older family all living in my old area 200 miles away!

I’ll try the admins of the local facebook group.

What's the expiration date on it?

They were only bought from August onwards. So it will be end of next year probably (trapped under the baby so can’t look now).

Ah ok. In that case shove them in a cupboard. See if the opportunity presents to pass them on to someone within the next year.

It’s such a shame though, there must be so many families who would live a few weeks off having to pay for formula.

I’ve messaged admins from some local groups. I might ask dds school as well if they know of anywhere.
