To ask if anyone has a BIG BIRTHDAY upcoming next year? If so...

Do you have any nice plans for it? If so, what? If not, we can help plan nice things together??

Finding it really difficult to plan! I've always wanted to visit Lake bled, Slovenia and had initially hoped that my upcoming big birthday would be a good excuse to go! We havent been away now for 3 years.

This destination alongside many others are currently banned from UK residents entering because of covid, I am finding it really hard to plan without knowing where we will be by then! My birthday is in April.

The alternative would maybe be a spa break with my OH in the UK.. if this is even allowed??

Argh so hard to plan but worried that if I don't plan i will be left with nothing whatsoever!

Yes! Me too - have booked a weekend away in April to Copenhagen. Am gambling that we can go by this point, if not will move it and be grumpy instead😁.

Lake Bled is amazing by the way, went two years ago!

@functionoverform Aww how lovely, I have never been to Copenhagen before! Have you booked your hotel, but assuming not flights?

I will never take for granted again being able to book breaks/holidays on a whim again!

July. I'll be 50. We have booked to go to centre Parcs for a long weekend for 8 of us. Not sure what we'll do if rule of 6 is still in though as it's my parents, DH, DS, DDIL, DD, DSD and me. Can't really drop any of those.
Otherwise I'm making no plans. DH was 50 this year and all of his plans were scuppered so I don't feel it fair to have stuff for me when he didn't.

My 40th in Jan. I think it'll be low key!

Me. I wanted to go to Canada with my family but now I'm thinking a place in the UK I've always wanted to go to. Or a weekend away by myself somewhere to enjoy some culture!

My DH turns 50 in January and had asked for a trip to California. I was planning it when Covid hit. At this point he’s getting a few gifts and a rain check, but I feel awful for him.

I feel your pain. My wedding was cancelled this year and I have a milestone birthday in April, I currently can't bear to plan anything as the disappointment is awful 😔

@theegghashatched have booked the flights (BA) but not the accommodation yet, haven't gotten that far in planning! I know we can get a voucher for the flights until Apr 22 with BA, and have had no problem getting money back from them so far.

Feel quite excited, even if it is something to look forward to, it makes me feel happier😁...

The other plans mentioned are giving me holiday envy😂😂

I got married in March, the day lockdown began. We had just 6 guests instead of 55 but it was still a special day, and we were grateful that we were able to go ahead.

We thought we'd make a big celebration of my milestone birthday In February next year - a joint wedding/birthday one. I guess that's not going to happen now.

And my mum will be 90 in April - she (unusually for her) wanted to celebrate in style, so I'm still hoping that might happen...

@IslaMann aww perhaps you could do a belated joint birthday celebration?

I'm really hoping that quicker test results time, vaccinations and treatment will enable more travel corridors to take place.. providing that it is safe to do so, of course the safety of the country / world is a priority!

Me! 50 in May. Haven't planned anything yet until I know how things are. Really hoping to be able to go away for the weekend at the very least but who knows

Ds2 is 18 in February - we've booked a very nice hotel in London and will try and book activities (mainly cocktail based!) in January.

Dd is 21 in May - no plans for that. Or for my mum's and MIL's 70th birthdays in May, or my 50th in July - we will make plans as we go for those.

But hoping ds1's postponed wedding can go ahead as originally planned in August....

Yup. 60th in March. Was planning three events to celebrate - not all at the same time. A big party. A walking holiday somewhere warm. And a new tattoo. Currently assuming I'll be lucky to do the last of those around the time of my birthday, and might be able to manage one of the others later in the year...

Yes, my 40th in March. Had planned on a trip away and to have a house full of friends for drinks one night. On my 30th I was pregnant so was more restricted - I thought!

Maybe we'll do them the following year instead. I'm not going to start booking trips at the moment, had enough disappointment this year with cancelled holidays and school trips. Have booked in Pembrokeshire for July so hopefully a holiday to look forward to at least!

We have a house booked for a January get together with our children, their partners and the grandchildren. I don't normally "do" birthdays, but as it is a special one I thought it would be a great excuse to plan something lovely.

We all live in different countries and we thought we had been sensible by choosing an option where nobody would need to get on a plane.

There would have to be a very improbable miracle for it to have any chance of going ahead now. Sad

Both I and DH will have in spring. Zero planning at the moment. I can’t even think about it, too worried about the whole situation.

Following. My 40th in May and like you OP, no idea where to start but with same feeling of there being nothing available left if I don't get moving soon!

Initial thoughts were: house rental for family gathering last BH weekend in May, weekend away with my best friends a couple of months later, prob UK again, then later in the year seeing the Northern Lights from somewhere resembling Norway/Sweden/Finland with DH.

I spent my 30th in ME whereby the country I was living in was emerging from the Arab Spring, some road closures, curfews etc. Wonder what my 50th will look like Grin

Turning 50 on 4th Jan..had hoped to plan a big holiday in August to celebrate that along with daughter finishing her GCSE's. Haven't bothered now & wouldn't be surprised if we're in lockdown straight after xmas! Feeling pretty miserable about it as I always find my birthdays a bit of a wash out anyway as most people are partied out by then, all started diets etc. and fed up about to go back to work (me included, lol). Ah well, hopefully I shall look forward to a takeaway with my hubby & 2 teens.

Turning 30 in March. Was meant to be at Disneyland Paris. Praying for a miracle of any kind to make it more bearable. Can’t believe how unlucky us March/April\May people will be to have two lockdown birthdays! Hopefully it won’t be 3.
