England v Barbarians called off after players breach Covid rules www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/54656359

Idiots. What made them think that would be ok? And that a group of enormous men like them wouldn't get noticed.
They've even had a social room laid on just for them in their hotel.
Arrogant tossers. All of them.

Really odd behaviour. I can only see a couple of them named in the BBC report. Wonder who the others are?

It does seem that footballers and rugby players as a group are struggling with the most basic of covid rules, come on guys, school children can comprehend them, what's wrong with you?

DH thinks some of the others are Fijian players.
I think the respective RFUs should give them a short ban or some other punishment.

I haven't forgotten tennis I just haven't seen any stories about tennis players smuggling girls into hotel rooms or going out to eat in groups or visiting family during lockdown. Maybe I'm reading the wrong newspapers

Cricketers are daft too - Jofra Archer bolted the summer bubble if memory serves.

No they just organised an entire tournament when the rest of sport had closed down.

Ah yes, and cricketers

Only following the example of the Manchester United player Paul Pogba, who caught the virus.

Idiotic.

What is it with these sports people? Do they really think the rules don't apply to them?

@JaJaDingDong - probably. Professional sports people do seem to live on the fringes of the celebrity bubble. (Then again, lots of ordinary people have broken the rules.)

Yes, this. Although Chris Robshaw is 34.

There's 12 players involved. I know Robshaw was there plus wigglesworth, maitland . I'll look for the article i read. I hope they are all suspended from international duties.

I was surprised nothing was mentioned after the game earlier.
There will need to be refunds to the broadcasting agency plus the sponsor.
At least we had 1 game today, with 2 games on Saturday.

I'm looking forward to the Wales France March.

Georgia were awful against Scotland. They can play better than that. It's about time they replaced Italy in the 6 Nations. Rugby is big in Georgia (unlike in Italy) and regular exposure to tier 1 nations (not in the Covid sense!) world make a world of difference to their national game.

@tattychicken France and Wales are playing a warm up tonight.
From what I can gather, the fijians and Simon Kerrod didn’t leave the hotel- I know sites have suggested that initially, but it really appears to be the UK based contigent who have let the side down- lots of Sarries players surprise surprise..... Not just once, but aparently twice too! Seven visited a pub before then, just got away with it
I hope all the players are banned, but to be fair to Saracens, it won’t matter. The championship might not even kicked off at this rate, and if it does, whats the point of them being in it, its not a punishment, its a year off. So players having a rest is fine. A fine/criminal action like normal peole face would be better.
And shame on the venues who let them in. I’m sure they will now be fined too for such a public breach of what they can do.

This has ruined my weekend (dramatic)Grin

I was diagnosed with breast cancer last September, I finished my last treatment the day we were locked down, I feel as though I have been locked down for a full year.

We are being so careful, but after much consideration we applied for seats at our rugby club ( it holds several hundred) there were going to be eighty of us, socially distanced on tables, spread over four screens. The club would have taken much needed revenue, the RFU are going to lose a ton of money as there will be no TV money.

Now here it is cancelled.

I am so pissed off that I find myself hoping that Robshaw goes to America, that it doesn't work out and that he comes back and can't even get arrested never mind hired again.

I am spitting feathers. Angry

Fluid hope you are well and have plenty more opportunities to prop up the club :)
