Day out in St Albans

justoffshift · 19/10/2020 12:14

Visiting St Albans next week with a friend (veggie) and looking for things to do and places to eat which have outside seating.
Planning to park at the station, presumably quieter than usual?

Thanks!

The cathedral is stunning.
The park is too, with Roman ruins dotted about

Any suggestions for lunch or brunch?

The cathedral has a place to eat, though not sure if it will be open.

Waffle house is nice, always busy and will be even busier as it's half term though

The waffle house are doing an online order which you collect at a certain time and get as a takeaway. You can still sit at their tables to eat. Well they were when we went a few weeks back.
There are some pubs down that part of the town with outdoor seating (no idea what the food is like sorry).

this. Have done both.

There used to be a market on weekends too.

Waffle House is good as several others have said.

Turns out we don't need to sit outside after all.
Are there any good pubs (for food ) - we are going to the Waffle House for breakfast.

I'd park in the Maltings.. Much more central. The station is a good 15 min walk from the centre and 30 from the Waffle House. Or the WH has its own large car park if you're starting there. Don't be put off if there's a large queue.. It moves quite fast.

If you are not vegetarian, we went to Craft and Cleaver the other week, its a BBQ brewery type place, but food is really good

I want the cheapest parking for the day and my friend is coming in via train so I assume it'll be ok, we like to walk!

Craft and cleaver looks great but not enough veggie options for my friend sadly

Another vote for Lussmans. They do a great set menu.
