Trouble getting flu jab

pinkkoala · 08/10/2020 18:49

I have the flu jab as i am a hca, obviously at no charge and also as i could possibly have complications if i did get flu.
This year i am struggling to get the jab due to stock availability. My gp can't do til 19th Nov or 2nd dec.
Has anybody managed to get the jab from a pharmacy and if so which one, as i have tried our big tesco and i can't get no booking, same as boots.
Anyone know anywhere you can walk in or book. Even better if they are in Northampton or Milton Keynes.

I'm nowhere near you, but according to my local fb page people are having more luck at the small local chemists rather than Tesco, Boots etc. It's worth calling around as they probably won't have online booking.

I booked mine with lloyds, but they are not taking bookings at the moment. They are doing email notifications when they restart taking bookings though.

Nothing here, West Wilts. Just found out that I'm not getting it as any priority despite having it last year on doctors advice and being 64. The doctors have said they've exhausted current supplies and have no idea when they'll be getting anymore.

As an HCA don’t you have an occupational scheme to get it at work?

Sidge, i work for bupa in a care home and we get vouchers/letter to say we can have it done at gp or pharmacy at no cost.
Has anybody tried superdrug, my local pharmacy on my estate is also out of stock so was going to try one of big chains in one of the towns.
I am in Northampton but go to Milton Keynes alot.
I think there is a big uptake of the jab this year which is a good thing.

Superdrug are doing walk ins. Call your local branch to check times, most seem to be between 9 and 10am. You have to wait but it only took me 10 mins or so

If you are a HCA can't you get it through work? I did 52 of my colleagues today and yesterday.

I have been trying to get one - I don’t qualify for an nhs one as I’m not high risk.
Dh had an nhs one for a condition he has. Ironically he has never been very ill with flu whereas I have had flu. Sepsis and pneumonia twice!.
But as I have no underlying conditions I can’t get one!

Private ones around here seem to be cancelled everywhere.
