I so badly want to know the backstory behind thisbrew

WorksTheDinerAllDay Thu 08-Oct-20 08:42:04

grin This is why I love the internet.

Funny, we have Yorkshire teabags at work and I would swear they’re round confused

Piratetree Thu 08-Oct-20 08:49:36

Thank you.

It’s a very boring back story but basically our tea has started tasting disgusting and I wanted to rule out having mixed up the bags with an inferior bag whilst decanting.

Love this grin

Next question: Now that I’ve ruled out having accidentally filled the caddy with lockdown substitution tea does anyone have any idea why our tea has suddenly started tasting gross?

Have you recently de-scaled the kettle? Bleached your cups?

Is this the only thing that tastes wrong?

Thisisnotnormal69 Thu 08-Oct-20 14:25:04

Is it just you that finds it disgusting or others too?

FlibbertyGiblets Thu 08-Oct-20 14:26:45

Has someone brought in the biscuits tea bags?

millymae Thu 08-Oct-20 14:29:42

Did you buy de caff ones by mistake or ones for hard water?

Chicchicchicchiclana Thu 08-Oct-20 14:31:34

Is it just you? When dh had Covid he could not bear the taste of tea and didn't drink any for about 10 days, whereas normally he's a several mugs a day man.

Anordinarymum Thu 08-Oct-20 14:32:00

Don't get me started on Yorkshire Tea. In Yorkshire we call it 'having a cup of tea, or' mashing the tea' if it's in a pot. Yorkshire people do not have 'a brew'.
I hate those stupid adverts with a passion because they were made by clueless idiots

doctorhamster Thu 08-Oct-20 14:32:57

Are you pregnant? I couldn't stand tea when I was pregnant.

Alicenwonderland Thu 08-Oct-20 14:36:43

I wondered if you are pregnant too. I'm a tea addict (my parents put it in my bottle!) but couldn't bear it when I was pregnant.

notso Thu 08-Oct-20 14:37:02

I'm from Yorkshire and I have a brew!

OP could you be pregnant? Tea tasted like ash when I was pg with DC3 it one of the first signs.

Maybe you've just gone off it though, we used Tetley for years, we ran out one day and the corner shop only had Yorkshire after that Tetley never tasted right again so we moved to Yorkshire Tea.

Out of date?

sunshineandshowers21 Thu 08-Oct-20 14:38:43

i’ve gone off yorkshire tea too lately. it just doesn’t seem to taste right.

chickenninja Thu 08-Oct-20 14:40:47

I went off tea when I was pregnant too.

Comefromaway Thu 08-Oct-20 14:43:25

Have you accidentally bought hard water teabags instead of soft water or vice versa?

VintageStitchers Thu 08-Oct-20 14:47:47

Covid?

NannyR Thu 08-Oct-20 14:48:59

I find my taste buds get used to tea after a while - a tea that I've really enjoyed for months starts tasting not so great. If I buy another brand then go back to the original after a few months, I find I enjoy it again.

Iodine in the water?
