Does this size guide ring true for anyone?

Maybe for a vintage-style company? There are a few companies who still use old sizing. Also wedding dress companies do this too - they tend to be far less generous in size than high street clothes.

But these days, most companies would say that a size 12 has a 30 inch waist, so no, I don't think that size guide rings true for any modern company.

Only when I'm following patterns to make my own clothes. I'm a size 20 according to that chart.

When buying from the high street I'm a 14-16.

Thank goodness!

Would you go by waist size regardless even if it means you're ordering several sizes larger then?

I think it depends on what I'm ordering. I prefer buying clothes from an actual shop because I can try them on because I've found that if they fit my waist they're too big for my hips yet too small for my boobs.

Which shop is this?

I remember my mum saying that 24" was a 10 back in the day, if you go to next I think that's nearer a size 16-18 now! Just a nightmare
