Gel pen burst in 4YO mouth? Do I need to worry

She’s managed to find a black gel ink pen and somehow burst it all over herself, including in her mouth. Tongue is stained but back of throat fine. She says she didn’t swallow any but she was in her bedroom so I can’t be sure.

Had a quick chat with her childminder (it happened at home but figured she might have info on this sort of thing) and a she reckons as long as she’s not sick we don’t need to worry. Seem reasonable?

I did this a lot as a kid at school (smelly gel pens were all the range and I'm a prolific pen chewer...) and survived! I think a little bit of ink goes a very long way so she probably hasn't had very much at all (it tastes vile)

Call 111 and ask. I caught my 2yo sucking on a pen and googled it, apparently there's not enough ink in a felt tip pen to cause poisoning but if they swallow an ink pad that's a problem. Gel pens I don't know, but they don't mind you asking. It's the equivalent of a poison Hotline.
