Monopoly or other board games for 6 year old?

I've been reading the board games threads and really like the sound of Catan and Carcassonne and some others. My youngest DS is 6 and I am wondering if they are too old for him?

He loves Cluedo Junior but started getting a bit bored with Monopoly Junior which used to be a favourite. Classic Monopoly might be good but I think he'll need a lot a help in terms of counting the money which might ruin the fun for him.

Enjoyed Cranium Junior but we exhausted the cards pretty quickly and it's probably a little too easy now anyway.

Labyrinth be works well for all of us.

Monopoly Deal is a great card game and my 6 year old's favourite.

At 6 my dc really enjoyed Monopoly but I hated it. They had Catan when they were older, I would think it's too old for a 6 year old. They loved a game called Blockus and also Battleships.

Thank you. Really like the look of Blokus but it's a bit more expensive. One for the Xmas list. Might order Monopoly deal as card games handy to take out.

Copit is a great game that you can play with no skill, knowledge or strategy. I have my old set from when I was a child and we've played it all the way through my children growing up. We also have Beatle that we have played with loads over the years . We are easily amused !

Also children's favourite ever would be Game of Life. All a bit dated now but they loved it.

We all like Scotland Yard. Ds is 5 and he usually teams up if he plays the robber or plays solo if he is a cop.

Its a brilliant collaborative game.

My just turned 6 year old loves Carcassonne. We also have a 2 player version of Risk which he enjoys (we play this one with slightly simplified rules).

Carcassonne is fine for a 6yo. We had Junior Catan rather than the adult game. I'd also recommend junior labyrinth and ticket to ride first steps.

My dc love lego games, minotaurus, shave a sheep, frog rush etc

Dobble - a symbol matching card game - is brilliant from that age.
Also Love Letters (no actual romance involved).
Zombie dice is a nice mixture of skill and luck.
They are all fun for adults too.

Rat a tat cat is great, although less fun for adults.

My 6yo likes UNO and Dobble (card games rather than board games) and also Junior Scrabble. She also likes Ker-Plunk, Jenga and Screwball Scramble but they’re more physical than mental, if you see what I mean.

When my DS liked the idea of monopoly, but it was a bit long for him to keep concentration for that long, we got Payday which he still enjoys. Not a board game but we also play a lot of Uno and Pictureka and Connect 4

Scotland Yard is a good family game, younger ones can get a bit of help but it's pretty quick to learn and you can simplify it.

Labyrinth is really easy to understand but enjoyable for all ages, it's a moveable maze and young kids tend to be better at it than adults!

Uno, dobble and jenga are big favourites with the five and seven year olds I look after. They also love the junior version of game of life. Bananagrams is a good one for different ages too.

Seconding UNO. DO NOT buy Ludo or similar. My 6 year old loves it but it is the most mind numbingly irritating game in existence. My heart always sinks when he gets it out.
