So tempted to snack now the nights are darker. Don't want to put weight back on.

I lost a stone and a half earlier this year and the only thing I did was cut out eating after 7pm.

I have no self control- if I open a packet of biscuits I'll have 3 in one go.

Has anyone else got over this?!

Stop keeping crap in the house?

That's what I have to do. It feels very restrictive. I would kill for some Cadbury's!

Well done on losing a stone and a half ! That’s a great achievement!!

I know the feeling. I lost 10lbs and I don’t want to put it back on.
People are bringing chocolates and stuff into work now the diet season is over, and it’s far too tempting....😕.

10lbs is a great achievement too!

It's so tempting. I feel like I couldn't just have one chocolate either, I'll end up back into my old routines.

The only solution I have found for this is going to bed early, somehow seems easier to justify that with the dark nights but obviously not compatible with normal life (things to do around the house, wanting to watch TV, kids still up etc.).

I wonder if I found a really engrossing hobby that might help. Otherwise, healthier snacks are probably the way forward, maybe something you can prepare yourself so it takes up time and might be enjoyable if you like cooking - hummus and crudités, fruit salad, a low fat/sugar milky drink to enjoy in cold weather. It's not easy so I sympathise... haven't lost any weight myself but desperate to not put any more on!

I was thinking that, if I could occupy my hands I might not have as many cravings.

Oppo ice cream. I am not a saleswoman I promise. Buy it when it's on offer, I get it from waitrose. Tastes bloody ridiculous - like normal ice cream - and hardly any calories. It has saved my evening sweet cravings.
It's not a bar of Cadburys I know but it's as close as you'll get with zero guilt.

What about a hot chocolate instead?

Ice cream could be lovely! I thought hot chocolate would have quite a few calories in?

Yeah hot chocolate the calories really depends on the chocolate.
Even eg Cadbury highlights still has a surprisingly high calorie content.
I really think total denial is miserable, as PP says you need to replace with a smart option.
Seriously OP, if you like ice cream, look no further Grin

I buy low calorie light hot chocolate such as Options or even Asda's own brand. I make it last a while and find it satisfies the chocolate craving and fills you up. Yes it contains some calories but it's a much better option then a pack of biscuits. Smile

Greek yoghurt (0% fat stuff) and a drizzle of good quality honey with some fruit is another one I love, but hot chocolate is much more tempting in winter. Either the 'low cal' stuff as suggested or make your own with your milk of choice and some squares of chocolate. As you can see I am always trying to fool my brain with fancier and more time-consuming ways of making things so it is more satisfying... in theory!

Clean your teeth
Have a warm bath
Find an involving book or tv series

And if you do have to snack, have something protein/fat based that is satiating and not carbs/sugar that will crash your blood sugars and leave you craving more.

Dark chocolate is richer and more satisfying with a small amount than milk "chocolate" - Cadbury's barely qualifies for the name these days as it's so full of palm oil and other crap.

Learn to knit! Keeps your hands busy and your mind occupied. I knit squares then see them together for blankets. There are plenty of charities who are grateful for these. I can usually manage 1 blanket a year but, thanks to lockdown I'm well into the second one now.
Or take up sewing, do a jigsaw, buy an adult colouring book, find an exercise class. Just keep yourself busy.
And congratulations on the weight loss so far!

I don't eat at all after my dinner at 5pm. I got so used to eating with the children and then cleaning my teeth when I cleaned their's. I honestly never feel like eating in the evening now. I just have herbal tea because I don't want to get my teeth dirty again.
