Tesco click and collect / delivery substitutions

To start off, i'm not complaining. Just confused.

I put my click and collect order in as normal just over a week ago. The new pandemic rules come in and some panic buying ensues.

So, checking my order over the week, things was out of stock, so removed from my basket but substitutions was suggested so I added them. So no mature cheese, have mild cheese, no mild cheese, have some low fat cheese.

Yesterdays collection day i got a lot of things that was supposedly out of stock, in triplicate so I got all three types of cheese! Two types of loo roll, three types of handwash, two type of cordial etc.

Normally when Tesco say something has been removed from the basket it's gone, not readded if it comes back into stock. I have just updated the app a few weeks ago.

Anyone else?

Did you definitely log out fully after each change?

There seem to be about six stages before they actually let you log out these days. Grin

I’ve noticed recently that some things come back in to your order after you’ve removed them - I watched this happen three times with one item as I clicked down to 0 and it went back up to 1 on its own! Which does explain some slightly random deliveries I’ve had recently (which I thought was me being scatter brained and not checking out properly). I had to empty the basket and start again to get rid of it!

Id when its showing as out of stock there is a price still then its not removed from your basket and if its in stock it will be delivered. If there is no price its removed. I think its because they get deliverys every day so don't remove it as will have it in stock on delivery day.

We have no substitutions ,last week they ran out of unsliced bread so we had nothing, previously they've substituted the unsliced with the same bread but sliced.

I've had weird issues with Tesco where things I know for sure were in my basket have just disappeared.

Hmm, I normally add things every few days so I'm convinced I had checked out at least twice but now i wondering if I did? I will see what happens next week. I was wondering why lots of things was out of stock but the order wasnt getting any cheaper.

We have a lot of cheese to eat now!

Lots of cheese is a GOOD thing 😊

Touch wood- I've not had any issues, BUT, I use the website, not the App.

I make good use of the box you can tick/untick for substitutes and the 'notes' bit.

I rarely get subs & when I do they're usually fine as I've made notes in the space AND I'm far less pernickety now.

Love Tesco.

Yes, me too... I don’t unpack the shopping so I don’t always notice but halfway through the week I’ll be like...wait, I definitely ordered that!

You can send items back as long as they don't enter the house

Too much cheese in this house just means someone ( probably dh) will just triple the amount of cheese Shock

Good job there wasnt alcohol or I would be a having a very unproductive week!

I've had this with morrisons. I ended up with about 10l of olive oil Hmm

Mind you nothing is as good as this weeks sub. They substituted a 100g jar of own brand sliced jalapeños, with a 100g jar of own brand sliced jalapeños Grin

The subbing for itself happens sometimes when there's a problem with the barcode.

O have had some weird substitutions in my time. Like yeast instead of bread.

I think I know why there is no pasta or loo roll in the UK, it was all substituted into my delivery.

And me! Thought it was me but I am SURE I have ordered thins that have not arrived abs are not on the order. Thought it was perhaps not being added to the basket so am careful to check it's actually gone in but maybe it's taking things out having read your posts!?! Hope not. It's v frustrating when you realise when just about to cook.

Love that substitution! That's like Tesco saying to you "There's no tucking bread, get over it and make your own". Lol!

Yes I thought it was a passive aggressive substitution at the time.

How can we send items back when the delivery guy just leaves everything in the porch, rings the bell and leaves immediately!

Submariner · 30/09/2020 19:09

I had a weird one last week where I had loads of items not available but no subs. It seems they had defaulted me to not wanting subs when I definitely did! Had to recheck it for this week.

My app is definable glitchy since the update. It’s still showing the last two weeks shops as ready for collection.

This week an item was not only out of stock but didn’t even come up in the search. I left it in my basket anyway, and it was there in my shopping when I collected it.

That makes sense. And the photo on the email was a different jar of jalapeños. Grin
