I'm watching honour on itv, how horrendous and depressing. As is Covid, Brexit, Trump, johnson, climate change, lockdown, just absolutely sodding everything. Sad

Everything, just everything feels totally bleak. nothing is enjoyable, there is nothing to look forward too. I'm not sure how much more we can all cope with.

Yep, I know what you mean. I haven’t worried about my kids at all until now but I’m beginning to wonder how they are in themselves. Keeping an eye on things.

Yeh. I think my two are ok. They are really happy to be back at school and it's all ok so far. I'm just fed up working at home, stuck in the house. I do know I'm incredibly lucky that I can work from home and that I have a job but it's so shit for so many people and the government couldnt give less of a shit.v

I don’t feel totally broken though. Just trying to appreciate the positives in life where I can.

Me! Today I got zero work done, I fell asleep on the sofa and had to make my time up tonight. I have days where I’m completely unmotivated to do anything except sleep and others where I’m full of beans and I power through.

I’m worried about the future. Will we stay healthy, will we stay financially secure etc etc.

I need just 1 thing to look forward to.

It is really difficult, my friend and I were discussing it all and then I said "then I think about all the stranded refugees and we're so bloody lucky"

It's tough, really tough and the only option is to try and appreciate the little things.

I understand what you mean. All the things that I enjoy - going to the theatre, ballet etc won't be there for goodness how long. i've never been one for shopping as a pleasure but now it's something to be hurried over, avoiding strangers and worrying about infection. People seem to becoming more suspicious and ready to blame each other, partly I think because the government have encouraged us to think any Covid spread is due to other people not obeying the rules rather than because they have handled things so incompetently.

Where I live we're not allowed to mix with another household so those comfy evenings where I sat with my sister drinking tea & laughing over inanities have gone - again.

The Covid pandemic in the UK has highlighted and increased the division in this country, between those that have and those that haven't. Those that have been able to afford the technology to Zoom and download apps and have online lessons and those who can't afford it.

We've got long dark nights, cold wet weather, mass unemployment, Brexit chaos and more Covid illness and deaths to look forward to. I'm very downhearted at the moment.

It is tough at the moment but it's not forever.

Plus there are lots of good things in the world, we're just not hearing about them.

It is getting oppressive now. The smaller things in life feel like the end of the world and I have cried three times today. I cried when my dd was manhandled screaming into Class ( she used to run in), i cried when my friend didnt responded to my message for two hours, i cried at something else - I never cry! No idea what's wrong with me. I'm mad sad. Tottering between being really angry and really depressed.

But we are all in the same boat. Imagine if it was your freshers year, or your wedding was cancelled I guess. Tonight I'm thinking of planning a mid life crisis for after lockdown which cheered me up 😂

@Mrslafayette it is a scary world out there right now isn't it. When it gets to me I find it helps to focus on the small things I can control and the things that are lovely. Today it was deciding to take an extra walk in the autumn sun and enjoying giggles with my baby. I also make a nice cuppa and have a biscuit BiscuitBrew. Though it's tough there's always something to look for that's positive. Hope you're ok.

I'm worn and tired.
There is no escape.

Every advert break.
Any public place.
Nothing is spontaneous or simple.
Half the books on my shelves seem to be battling against the creep of chaos (Harry Potter, The Handmaids Tale, Divergent...) The other half just rub in wha you can't do!
Even a random field in the arse end of nowhere is seeing the return of the terrified masked bush divers leaping off the path into the undergrowth.
And so, so tired of being at home often lonely but nearly never alone.

I have some hopes and plans, but they are fragile.

Stuff the vaccines, I want an injection to make me sleep until the daffodills come out partying.

Sometimes. Then I had a rather unexpected lovely chat with my elderly neighbour. Who said to me they had the same worries when young, about their children's future, what world have they brought them in to. All doom and gloom and now they have the privilege to watch their children have the same worries for the next generation. Life goes on, people find ways to enjoy life again and find happiness wherever you can.

I mean, I still feel like the world is going to shit, but it did cheer me up a bit.

I feel really tearful too today. I've wfh ask through lockdown but I'm now being pushed into a new role I hate for the next 6 months with talk of redundancies looming. I'm a PA and my skills just aren't valued anymore even pre COVID.

I've watched too much news today which hasn't helped.

I wish I could go to sleep for the next 8 months or so and wake up to normality next summer.

Glad it’s not just me, due to have my baby in a week and I’m just miserable at the minute not being able to see friends and family. Then someone on the news said something about local lockdown being for months not weeks and I just exploded with tears. I feel like this has been the worst year of my life and yet it should be the best with my baby due so soon I should be excited and I’m not. My pregnancy has been utter shit and have so many friends who have not seen me pregnant at all then I’m going to have this baby and no one can enjoy it with me or help when I’m struggling. My partner gets a week paternity leave then I will be completely alone, no baby groups, no friends or family just me alone with a newborn. Feel like PND is inevitable if it hasn’t already started already.

This is how I feel. I cannot watch news anymore. Books...I need books but nothing dystopian....something distracting and fun

It does help to gain perspective from people who have lived long enough to have seen and survived wars, depressions, recessions etc . Much of life is cyclical.

Same here. Restos shut down here from Oct 1. Great stuff. My treat of going to Starbucks a couple of times a week to work is now gone too.

Bleak

Not sure you lot will want me here but I don't feel bleak or like I want to sleep for 8 months! God no.

Sometimes you need perspective. This isn't forever, and there's lots to be thankful for.

To the pp due a baby next week - good luck and PND is not inevitable!! In normal times you'd be feeling intruded on by well wishers trampling all over your carpets and expecting you to wait on them!

Can I suggest breaking away from the coronavirus boards and heading over to the Christmas topic Grin Get prepared, make autumnal and winter decorations with the kids for your home. Instead of bursting into tears about something you can not change, do something you wouldn't normally be doing with the kids and make the best of things.

I think the media is overdoing it. There's absolutely no good news anymore. I agree it's all shit but now it is all made to feel personal which I don't think is always helpful or useful. Like a PPs real life encounter with their neighbour. That is real life. Saying that, I'm also struggling. I feel I'm at the end of my capacity to carry on and the next thing, whatever it is, will just push me over at anytime. We all need a break.

I feel totally broken because the love of my life, my spouse and soul mate died three months ago after an illness made all the more difficult by CV restrictions.
