Can’t open up to anyone as they’ll think I’m going to ask for money

I desperately need to talk to someone as going through a bad time but o know whoever I talk to family or friends because of the nature of it (financial ) that they’ll think I’m going to ask and that’ll make it awkward.

All I really want to do is have a cup of tea and a chat with someone, anyone just to vent how I feel and get it out. I don’t want to borrow off anyone I just need to talk but I don’t want to make things awkward if that makes sense?

Things are getting somewhat sorted but it’s just a rubbish time. How do you open up and get support without people thinking you’re about to ask for a loan

You are assuming that that's what they'll think, they might not.

If they did think that what would they say, would they offer and you could then say that it's not necessary but you just needed to speak about your situation with someone.
Or you could start with saying that you really need to get something off your chest but it is in no way an ask for money just that its getting to you and you'd like to speak about it.

Failing that, you could speak on here. There are lots of people here with some great advice and some would have no doubt been in your situation.
Don't bottle it all up

I just don’t want to make a situation awkward if that makes sense I think what I need to do is vent to someone how I’m sick of eating cous cous and having to count every penny and sick of the worry.
I’ve got a plan and it will be ok but it’s just shit right now and the last thing I want to do is make anyone think that I was going to ask.

Perhaps it’s me projecting as if anyone talked finances to me and they were struggling I’d probably assume they might ask for a loan so I was worried if I open up my friends or family would think the same

Yeah it might be best to vent on n here if you're self conscious that they'll misunderstand.

Alt say "can I have a moan to you? I don't need any solutions, I know it's come right eventually, but I just need a vent"

So what is the issue? Loss of income, debts, something else?

Moneysavingexpert is a good place to get help. You can review your budget and get pointed towards the help you need, whether this is increasing your income by being entitled to benefits, cutting your basic costs like gas and electric, or signposting to help sorting out debts if that's the issue.

A couple of tips if you have unsecured debt - don't plug away at debts that are charging interest as you can do this for years without getting anywhere and don't scrimp on food or other essentials to pay your debts. If you find that you don't have enough money for basic living costs and paying debts, that's a trigger for needing formal help.

If your money problems are due to Covid, make sure you look at the relevant help section for that too. Good luck Flowers
